He opened his mouth to say yes, but then looked down at Seres, who looked completely eager for his parents to collect the sample of all the numbers. “If it’s something terrible, Seres is a quick runner.” he plopped their son on the ground, knowing he was not a fast runner and certainly was not with his son in his arms, “Maybe he just thought it was you. The Faceless Old Woman could have dressed as you for Halloween.” yeah. That was likely. She wrote things on walls all the time

Carlos hummed. He wasn’t sure if he was convinced. “I… okay then,” he said. “At the first sign of trouble though, you guys get out of here.” If it WAS the Faceless Old Woman, she wouldn’t harm any of them as they weren’t running for Mayor. He then laughed nervously. “If it IS her… then I’m sorry she picked a poor subject for her costume choice.” He was trying to make the mood a bit lighter.

But enough stalling… he had to open the door.
