Catch me at the campfire bURNING this dress

Kid, you shouldn’t play with fire. You don’t know what that dress is made of – it could just melt and hurt you or will cause a lot of fumes that you can choke on.

Does it look like I care about that?

You should at least have a face mask. Oh, and adult supervision, too. I guess.

This camp is too shitty to have that stuff.

Well, there is me. An adult and scientist who totally knows how to supervise a fire. We can jury-rig up something to keep from breathing in too much smoke. If you’re gonna burn something, at least be safe.

Can’t I just, k’now, fuckin burn it?

You can… but then maybe an accident will happen and you get hurt. You should do it right – and if we’re lucky, it’ll make pretty colors while it burns.

I can literally just throw it in the fire when David or Gwen aren’t looking and no-one will know.

But I’m looking. Right now. And I’ll know, since you told me. It’s really not hard to take safety precautions, buddy – we’ll just grab a couple handkerchiefs, have some water on hand and a stick to put the dress in with. It’ll be fun!

Fine. Only if you don’t tell David or Gwen.

*smiles a big, dopey, nerd smile* Great! And if they find out, I’ll let them know that I was there to supervise. I got some handkerchiefs at my camp – when do you think is the best time to do this so you’re still participating in your camp activities?
