“Wait, meme-speaking?” Stephen raised an eyebrow at that. All he heard was coos and clicks like a small infant animal trying to communicate for the first time. Bamf? Like…..Nightcrawler bamf? Were these…..actual bamfs?“
“No…these creatures are harmless. I know their well….father if it seems to be that way…” Stephen held out his hand with a smile. “They’re well….they’re demons. Demonic in nature but completely harmless. Mischievous more than anything…we call them bamfs because that is the sound they make when they teleport. Yes….they teleport. And to be very accurate, yes they are from Hell. Wonder how they populated so fast and got here in the first place. Tell me…have you come across a man by the name of Kurt Wagner? He well…he looks like that.” he pointed to the blue fuzzball. “but he is human size and has a German accent. He’s also a Catholic priest so don’t let that throw you off.”
Carlos looked at him. “I haven’t been around to hear the noise
they make when teleporting – I’ve just heard second-hand accounts. So, wait,
they’re not saying ‘BAMF’ as in ‘Bad-Ass Mother…’ um, ‘F-word’?” he asked Dr
Strange. “And… no, I haven’t seen a big one. Just a few of the little ones
around here.” He considered the creature. “Teleporting… it might explain how
they got here. Perhaps there was a shift in space while they were teleporting
and they just ended up here. But then those monsters that came in after them…”
How did they get there? Could they teleport too?Carlos gestured toward the creature. “Can you pick it up? I
don’t want it getting hurt on the equipment it broke.”“No, not…that bamf. It’s the sound the air makes when they teleport. You would have to see it.” Stephen cooed the bamf to his side once again who happily crawled up to his shoulder.
“So the red ones look like this as well?” He pointed to his new companion. “If so, I have your answer as to why they are here. And I just MIGHT be able to help you if you help me find Mr. Wagner, we can stop the red ones from attacking Nightvale.Like I said, it’s complicated matters that I know of some knowledge, but I need well…they have claimed Kurt is their daddy, so that’s why we need to find him.”
“I… no, you saw one of the monsters,” Carlos told him. “It
didn’t look like the Bamf. It was just some big ugly… reptilian beast. But if
they’re from the same plane… maybe they’re getting help getting here from something
that CAN teleport?” Carlos thought about this ‘Wagner’ fellow. “I haven’t seen
him, and there aren’t any reports I’ve heard. But… can he teleport like these
creatures? If so, then maybe the space shift had affected him as well… and we’ll
see him shortly if he’s not already here. If we’re lucky.”
