*max shrugs* if your kid likes the camp, and I don’t see why anyone would,
then I guess ask her too if you wanna take her out of here. I’d be fine
with leaving but my “parents” don’t have a say in that anymore.

*he looks at Max* What do you mean they don’t have a say? Is
there a contract?

*max was slient and lowered the dress more before shrugging* sorry about my language but, they don’t give a shit. They never did. So David took me in and I can’t leave without him so..

*Carlos felt a little like he’d been punched in the gut,
hearing that Max wasn’t being taken care of by his parents. He felt sorry for
bringing it up*

I’m sorry to hear that. But, I guess you understand… it’s
tough for a guy like David to work at the same time as raising you. He’s… he’s
single, isn’t he?

Yeah, he does a pretty good job though so. And he cares so, can’t complain there.

*nods* Yeah, okay. That’s good – that’s very good.

*by now Max has nearly lowered the entire dress into the fire* hm.

*Carlos senses Max might not want to talk about it anymore
so he goes quiet just to watch the dress burn some more*

This is,, really cool, the fire and stuff.

Yeah, it is. Fire is fascinating. Humans have been playing
with it for God knows how long. It’s amazing what we can do with it, you know?

Yeah, but a lot of damage could be done with it and that kinda sucks.

*hums and nods* Which is why we took safety measures. I’m
glad you could have fun with it, and get what you wanted done.

*the dress had finally gotten Completely into the fire* yeah. *Max tosses the stick into the fire and sat down* what time is it?

*pulls out his phone to look at the time* It’s a little over
half past 9. Does David check in on the campers?

Yeah, usually. I should probably get to my tent or he’ll flip. *Max stood up and stretched*

*Nods* I’ll walk you to your tent – I have a flashlight on
my phone. Then I’ll come right back to deal with the fire.

Yeah, alright. *Max yawns* damn I’m tired.

*Carlos chuckles softly and stands up. He pulls down his
handkerchief and offers his hand to Max*

*Max looked at Carlos’ hand, confused before giving him the handkerchief and shoving his hands in his pockets*

*Carlos is confused a bit, but he puts the handkerchief in
his pocket. He then offers his hand again* Wanna hold my hand while I walk you
back?
