Carlos was taken off-guard, but he merely gave the other a contemplative frown before reaching out to comply. “Uh… alright,” he said.
Admittedly, she had shown up a little bit early. She always did that with this kind of thing. She had tried to keep herself busy beforehand, packaging up some tea blends to sell on her online store, and yes, she got through a few orders, but soon enough, she found herself too antsy. She had headed upstairs, and gotten herself dressed in a black, long-sleeved, off-the-shoulder shirt, and a soft-pink, knee-length tule skirt, paired with chunky, holographic heels. Her hair had been curled to frame her face just so, and her makeup had been applied in soft pinks and iridescent hues. She now sat at a table, foot bouncing nervously as she held on to a venti Youthberry tea. They had tea now, who knew? She knew she had gotten here early, but it seemed like so much time had passed since then. Where was he..?
Carlos parked outside and got out of the car. He almost
forgot to turn it off, but at the last moment remembered and leaned in to yank
out his keys. He sighed heavily, adjusting his labcoat, before going up to the
shop.Carlos walked in and for a moment he forgot who he was
looking for. But upon seeing her he smiled and hurried over to her table.“Hey, hey… sorry I’m late. I was working and I wasn’t paying
attention to the sun…”She let out a sigh upon seeing him, not having realized she had been holding her breath. She stood as he approached, and suddenly felt slightly overdressed. Oh, she had definitely put too much thought and effort into this. “It’s fine, don’t worry about it,” she said with a reassuring smile. “I get how that can be.”
Carlos smiled at her as he sat down in the chair across from
her. He was relieved – she didn’t seem annoyed. That was good.“How has your day, been?” he asked her.
She sat as well, hands quickly finding their way back to the cup she had been holding, an item of comfort in this entirely unfamiliar situation. “Um, not too crazy, I got some orders prepared to send out for my uh, my store, but… I haven’t been too busy. What about you? How’s your day been?”
Carlos’ smile turned a bit sheepish and he shrugged. “I’ve
been researching on what it takes to be a band manager,” he said. “The, um… the
Literal Rock Band that I discovered and am studying want to be discovered in a different way… you know? So… I’m trying
to figure out how to help with that.”
