Carlos was taken off-guard, but he merely gave the other a contemplative frown before reaching out to comply. “Uh… alright,” he said.
The
grin on her face grew. She rested her chin on the heel of her palm and
let out an almost dreamy sigh. He was such a kind soul. If given the
opportunity and ability to do anything, he would chose to do something that would benefit others. “That’s wonderful,” she said softly. “So wonderful of you.”Carlos smiled. “Is it? I mean, I suppose there can be some
models that could assist people with special needs as well… sort of like a
service animal without the need to be fed. I mean, there’s all sorts of
possibilities.”Her face softened as she felt her heart melting. “You’re… so kind…” she smiled. It was a moment before she realized she had been slowly leaning closer and closer to Carlos, and was practically leaning halfway across the table at this point. Her face flushed darkly as she quickly pulled back, and she cleared her throat. She set a hand in her lap and took a sip of her tea. “That’s… That’s a really great idea,” she said softly, smiling across the table at him.
Carlos’ face started to warm. Was it really kind? He’d like
to think that anyone decent would have thought of that as well.
“Um, t-thank you,” he said to her with a smile.
He heard his name be calledby one of the baristas so he got
up to go get his coffee. “Just a second,” he assured Selina and he hurried off
to go get it.
