Yondu
offered a smile back but it felt fake. “Yeah that sounds good…thank
you. I shouldn’t complain about anything served and free.”

Mr Ramon considered Yondu for a moment. “We… could always do
it another day,” he said. “If you’d rather go back to your… ship and take a
breather.”

“I made a promise…… if I go back to my ship… we’ll…. it may be a long time before I’m seen again…..”

Carlos’ shoulders started to slump. Yondu really didn’t want to be here. Carlos
thought he had appealed to his sentimentality, but…  he was just staying to make Carlos happy,
wasn’t he? Well… Carlos wasn’t happy.
Especially not since Yondu was being this way.

“You really hate it here, don’t you?” Carlos asked him softly.
“I’m sorry… I thought you would have wanted to spend more time with me. But if
that’s not the case, then… I’m not going to make you stay here, Yondu.”

Yondu looks at him and his ears droop. “You do t get it….. I want to spend forever with you. But I can’t I can’t and it hurts. How can I put my care free smile on my face when I can’t be happy knowing what’s about to end….. even if I have a few more days……. it will end…… so you know I was rising you hating me and just keeping you… never to bring you to terra. But …. you were so good to me and the boys…… I couldn’t do that to you….I want to be here but I just…..I can’t smile and be happy about losing you….”

Mikey seemed to bristle a bit at the idea that Yondu wouldn’t
have brought Carlos back, but Mr Ramon remained completely silent and
calm-looking, a slight frown on his face as he just watched Yondu and Carlos.

“You can’t even be happy for… just the bit more time we
could spend together?” Carlos asked him. “For us to still be friends and still
talk on the communicator? Or… anything?”
