Carlos smiled and shrugged. “It’s okay, I was just trying to stay out
of your way…” He glanced at his elbow again. “I’m going to go get
this cleaned up…”

He nodded. This man probably wouldn’t want the company of a stranger, especially in this town.

“Well, I owe you one.” he said. “Let me know if you ever want me to grab you a soda, or something, to say sorry. Oh, I’m Sylvain.”

Carlos blinked at him. “Oh, I’m Carlos,” he said, offering his hand. “Carlos the Scientist. And really, it’s not a big deal. But if you’d like, you can have a soda with me – I’m pretty down for some company!” He grinned at the other man. Really, there were no hard feelings whatsoever, and Carlos wanted to convey that somehow.
