“If it reacts to pain, then it might not be ‘zombie-like’ at all. It might have some form of actual life in it. Perhaps try a gentler approach? See if it reacts to more natural instincts like drinking water or a change in behavior when the lights are turned off? Like an animal would, I mean.”
“I could, but the boss came in and told me to be rid of it asap. It’s his heart, thus, his call in the end.”
“By the way, who are you?”
“Huh? Oh, sorry – I guess it’s kinda unprofessional of me. I’m Carlos Ramon – I’m a scientist.
“That’s a shame about the heart creature thing. But I guess if it belongs to your boss… his body and his rules and all that.”
“Oh, well, Carlos. I’m not sure how you came about my lab, but it’s a pleasure to meet you regardless! My name is Doctor Flug Slys. As for the heart, I’ll do and record as many experiments as I can before it needs to be disposed of.”
Carlos smiled at the other. “It’s a pleasure, Dr Slys. I’ll be honest, I’m not sure exactly how I got here. I was studying a phenomenon that looked like some sort of temporal rift. I guess my being here proves that theory.”
