Joining an rp group on tumblr can be a little stressful for people either just starting or if they’re coming back from a long hiatus. Back when Yahoo bought Tumblr it went through a huge makeover. Which made editing text replies very difficult. When a rp group asks for you to ‘edit your replies’ they mean for you to delete the previous post you made in that conversation before posting your reply. The circled part below.

Alternatively, you don’t have to have NewXkit. Mobile users sometimes have trouble with playing with users who have NewXkit. But I don’t just hit the (x) because I like to keep a link to the previous reply in the post in case someone (like me sometimes >w>) wants to click all the way back and start reading from the beginning because sometimes going through the post’s notes isn’t very user-friendly. Here’s what I’ve started doing:
1. Write your reply. Put your cursor before your reply and hit enter to put a space above it.
2. Highlight your partner’s last reply (including their name, but not their avatar icon) and copy it.
3. Paste it ABOVE your response – don’t worry about the icon.
4. Then highlight their response (not their name) and hit the indentation icon to indent the response and separate it from yours
5. Hit the red (x) button to remove the previous reblogs. Then you’ll just have your trimmed post.
Yes, I do have Xkit installed, which is why the buttons are swapped, but you don’t need Xkit to do this.
However, when your partner gets a notification for this it’ll just say “so-and-so reblogged your post” and it won’t say that it added anything. But this is no different from when you just click the (x) button or when you use Xkit to trim. So your partner has to pay attention to make sure it’s there.
