one of my biggest pet peeves when it comes to mental health is when one mentally ill person, who’s clearly much further in their ‘recovery’ progress already, “accuses” another mentally ill person of not trying hard enough. “you need to go out! don’t stay in that depressive spiral! get active! choose recovery!!!” …and this thinking pattern is clearly important… but… it takes time. getting to a stage where you’re able to do this, to force yourself to go out and actually get better isn’t something that happens overnight. some get to it quicker and more easily, whereas others need a little more time. so please be gentle and remember that ‘recovery’ is a process that is unique to everyone. don’t judge another person just because their journey is different compared to yours. some people take longer to get better and that’s okay.
