Carlos hadn’t been to a circus in years – not since he was little. But there had been a raffle at work and Carlos had won a coupon for a free ticket. He kinda hoped that his brother and/or his dad were in town so he could invite them to go with him.
Carlos made his way to the ticket office that was set up, standing in the line with his coupon as he looked at everything around him. Some things were different than what he remembered or imagined a circus to be like, but not everything could be a dated cliche trope he supposed.
Once at the ticket office he smiled and offered the coupon. “Hey… this any good?” he asked in a joking manner.
He
glanced over to the striped tent, laughing a bit and turning back to
Carlos with a shrug as his shoulders dropped he scratched at his neck
and rolled it.“She had a date, she’s not my partner by the way.. We’re just
siblings.” He explained before going on with, “Yeah that guy wasn’t
invited over here, I was just getting a drink when he came over.. Thanks
again,” Chuckling and dropping his hand, “You know you’re pretty limber
for some random guy in the audience..”Carlos chuckled softly. “Well, uh, I’m sure I’m going to be feeling it in the morning,” he confessed. “I work out in the field a lot, but I’m still not as active as I probably should be, heh.” He cleared his throat. “I-I was just referring to… well, when I said ‘partner’ I just meant your acrobatic routine partner. I didn’t know if you guys were… I didn’t want to assume.”
“Don’t worry about it,” He quickly shrugged it off with his eyes glancing over the park and sighing deeply from his chest, almost as if it was his last time viewing the place. His deepest eyes glinted like glitter in the ride’s lights, with his heavy makeup sparkling beautifully along his cheeks as he took another breath before playfully punching Carlos in the arm.
“Hey!” He exclaimed with a point of his finger, “You don’t know my name yet, it’s Skip.” He finally said with a smile.
Carlos smiled at him. He offered his hand to shake. “I’m Carlos,” he said. “Carlos Ramon. I’m a scientist. I should thank you for giving me a circus experience that I will never forget.”
