Carlos hadn’t been to a circus in years – not since he was little. But there had been a raffle at work and Carlos had won a coupon for a free ticket. He kinda hoped that his brother and/or his dad were in town so he could invite them to go with him.
Carlos made his way to the ticket office that was set up, standing in the line with his coupon as he looked at everything around him. Some things were different than what he remembered or imagined a circus to be like, but not everything could be a dated cliche trope he supposed.
Once at the ticket office he smiled and offered the coupon. “Hey… this any good?” he asked in a joking manner.
“That’s
perfectly fine,” Skip coached softly as he extended his own slender
hands towards theirs and gently clasped them into his, he rubbed the
tops of their hands slowly and soothingly as he continued to speak
quietly. “Now, tell me.. Do you have a happy place? I have a
happy place, and it all starts and ends with your eyes and lips.” He
hummed sweetly, his rubbing motions repeating over and beginning their
work of hypnotism. “Wow, your heart rate is pretty high huh? Relax, take
a deep breath..”The other scientists were quietly doing work, but some of them were curiously listening in, wondering what would happen as Lore took a deep breath and let it out with a sigh through their noise.
A couple of the scientists wondered if Skip was flirting. The quip about Lore’s eyes and lips? It seemed a little weird.
Skip was flirting, but he wouldn’t advance on Lore even if they asked for him to. Well.. at least he wouldn’t advance on them here, he had his dignity. Though hypnosis for Skip was a romantic thing of great delicacy, it was like handling a creation of hollow chocolate.
“Are you watching me? Can you see my aura? I can see yours, a brilliant clover shade that curls like vines.. curling around your wrists, curling around your waist, your shoulders and thighs.. it moves you, it conducts you.. you are one of thought with the aura..” he derailed softly, “In and out my love, breathe..”
Lore had the urge to giggle, but for some reason they didn’t. They just breathed along with Skip as instructed. They were in a lull with their hands delicately resting in Skip’s.
A distant thought that they could barely hear reminded them that what was happening right then was pretty darn cool.
