Why the hell – Max? Max, where are you buddy? I need to know how you’re feeling.

@dedmaxsearchhistory

… how much do toothbrushes even cost? i’ve never had to buy one before..

Well, it depends on the kind that you get. But generally they’re pretty cheap. Especially kid’s ones.

*he nods slightly* alright, that’s good i guess

Well, I want you to get a good one too. I’ll help you pick it out, Max, and I’ll even help pay for it if you need me to.

*he smiled softly* thanks Carlos

You’re welcome, kiddo. *Carlos smiled at him. They approach the car.* Here we go… *he unlocks it and opens the back passenger door for Max*

*he said a quick thanks as he climbed into the seat, buckling himself in* how old do you have to be get a drivers license?

Well, you can start driving when your fifteen with a permit and an adult in the car. It’s to help train so you can get a license when you’re sixteen.

As the summer days rolled by, a full moon crept closer and closer. Thankfully, the woods surrounding the camp were large and caves were scatted everywhere, maybe Carlos could wait this out in a cave? all he had to do was find one and hope some other animal didn’t make its home there, right? -(the worse starter maker) L

Carlos wandered through the forest. He knew he’d seen a cave somewhere – it looked like an old bear cave, though he hadn’t gone in it before. He wanted to be as far away from his camp and the summer camps, in case the children had an idea to wander around at night to hunt for snipes. The full moon would make visibility perfect for it, so it was a reasonable concern in Carlos’ mind.

He finally came across the cave he was looking for. And not too soon either – the moon would rise probably within the next ten minutes. Carlos ventured forth, holding his flashlight up to search the inside of the cave. Hopefully it was empty. Could a werewolf beat a bear? Maybe?

he huffed slightly, looking at the entrance of the cave

Carlos lifted an eyebrow in confusion. “You… do?“ he guessed.

he whined quietly, laying his head down

Carlos didn’t understand. “Drake, what do you want?” he asked.

he hesitated slightly before nunging his head against his hand, seeming abit upset

Carlos was very confused and he was honestly pretty worried. “Drake do you… need me to do something for you? Do you need me to help you?” He wasn’t even sure if Drake could understand his speech, but Carlos was going to try anyway. There wasn’t much else he could do.

he chirped softly, laying his head on Carlos’ lap, it didn’t seem like he understood the other at all

Carlos frowned, but he reached down to pet Drake’s head as he hoped to soothe the creature. He wasn’t sure what else he could do.

Maybe though, later, he could walk with Drake to the stream. It might be nice to have company.

he started to purr softly before suddenly turning into a human because anons are weird. he sat up, looking abit confused as he looked at his new body “Uh… Huh”

Carlos stared at him, wide-eyed. This was… a strange turn of events (to say teh very least). “Uh… what?”

“I.. Guess This Is Happening..?” he had a few bruises here and there, and he needed a shower

“Uh… what’s happening?” Carlos asked him. “You… you’re not a were human, are you?”

“Were Human..? I Don’t Think So..” he shifted his wings slightly “At Least Some Things Don’t Change..”

“This is… weird,” Carlos said redundantly. He grabbed his labcoat and gently spread it over Drake’s lap to cover up some… things.

he seemed abit confused by the other covering him “What’s this for..?”

“Oh, um… it’s sort of a ritual for humans. A lot of us prefer to be covered and that others cover themselves. It’s why I was pushing your head away earlier… I didn’t want you to see me uncovered.”

*places Carlos by Max* he’s drinking alcoholic beverages

( @the-perfect-scientist )

What the – oh… *looks at Max* Hi Max.

hey Carlos.. *he muttered, figuring the other already knew*

I know what the anon said, but do you want to tell me yourself what’s going on?

.. i don’t know.. *he put his hands in his pockets, looking at the ground*

Max, I’m not angry. Disappointed, but not angry. I want to help you do better. Where are you getting it?

Carlos lifted an eyebrow as he recieved the bottle. “Like, what kind
of kick? Is it like the tang of Quantum?” he asked. Though Carlos
brought it up to his nose for a sniff. It did smell funny, but for
whatever reason he couldn’t place it.

Until he had a taste.

“Eek! That’s alcohol!” he exclaimed, sounding almost offended. He wasn’t actually offended however, just very surprised.

The reaction earned him a laugh from Hancock, the ghoul taking the bottle back from him and leaning back against the couch as he took another sip, pulling deeper from the bottle this time. “You’re hilarious. Haven’t ya ever had a drink before? Or are ya just not a fan?”

Carlos pouted at Hancock as he laughed. Yeah, Carlos’ reaction was probably over the top, but that didn’t mean Hancock had to laugh at him.

He let Hancock have the bottle back as he pulled out a Cherry for himself. “I’ve drank before – I think a lot of people have to at least try it in their lives. But no, I don’t drink very much. I get sleepy from alcohol. It’s pretty boring, for me.” He looked at Hancock’s bottle. “I had no idea that Nuka Cola made alcoholic beverages… that’s so strange, considering they were a soda company.”

☝️ – Tap my muse on the shoulder

Newt had been walking down the street, case in hand when he suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder. He paused, not sure who was there, but he turned to see–

“Carlos?” He asked in disbelief. It had been ages since he’d last seen the man. What were the chances of seeing him again?

Newt
chuckled softly at that, and nodded. “They are. But don’t worry, she
hasn’t developed that ability yet. Picture how baby goats enjoy ramming
into things.” He explained.

“Ah, I see,” Carlos said. “Will she learn to control herself more as she gets older?”

“She will. Right now she’s just curious; like how a baby puts things in its mouth.” He explained.

“Oh, that’s very cute,” Carlos said with a smile. “I suppose a lot has changed down in the case, huh? With new residents? I’d…” Carlos trailed off, suddenly feeling a little pushy. He was going to say that he’d like to go down into the case to see the animals, but he didn’t want Newt to feel like he had to. Carlos tried to cover it with a slight cough, but still smiled at Newt.

“After this, why don’t you come back to my flat with me?” He asked, raising a brow. “I can show you my newest editions.” He said.

Carlos blinked at him. “Wait, really?” he asked, already feeling a little excited by the idea. “I mean – that would be great, if – if you’re not too busy today.”

Newt smiled happily, and nodded. “You and my mother would get along very well.” He said with a chuckle.

Edwardo looked at Newt curiously. He smiled. “Oh? She sounds lovely already. If you don’t mind me asking, Newt, what’s your family like?”

The young man’s eyes lit up at the mention of his family. “My mother raises hippogriffs. She lives out in the country outside London.” He said. “She’s part of the reason I became so interested in magical creatures, I suppose.” He added. “My brother, Theseus, is an auror. Quite an accomplished one, in fact.” He said, pride clear on his face. “We don’t always get along, but I suppose that’s common among brothers.”

Carlos’ eyebrows furrowed curiously. “An auror?” If Newt told him about Carlos’ family…

No, he wouldn’t do that. But the mention of an auror did put a pang of concern in Carlos’ gut. Just a little one.

“Yeah, brothers are sometimes like that,” Mikey said. “How close are you? Regarding age? Carlos and I are only about 18 months apart.”

“Theseus is eight years older than me.” He replied with a small smile. “Doesn’t seem like it, though.” He added. “The gap between us never felt that large.”

“Oh yeah?” Carlos asked. “Well, that’s always a good thing. Does he travel a lot like you, or is he kept busy in England?”

“He rarely leaves England.” Newt replied. “He’s quite incolved with the Ministry.” He explained.

“Oh – an all work and no play type?” Edwardo asked curiously. “Or is it just the nature of being an auror in England?”
