Carlos took a sip of coffee and paused.
āItās dusty. It tastes like dust. Like someone left the lid off pre-war. Did Kira know? Probably not… should I tell her? I donāt want to be rude, but she probably spent good money on it… I donāt know what I should do…ā

Carlos was looking at an old desk terminal with sadness and a bit of frustration. āDammit… itās trashed. What the hell? Thatās like the 8th one Iāve seen this week. Canāt there be at least one piece of tech that doesnāt look like it was put through a blender? Is that too much to ask? Probably…ā
Carlos wandered through the forest. He knew heād seen a cave somewhere ā it looked like an old bear cave, though he hadnāt gone in it before. He wanted to be as far away from his camp and the summer camps, in case the children had an idea to wander around at night to hunt for snipes. The full moon would make visibility perfect for it, so it was a reasonable concern in Carlosā mind.
He finally came across the cave he was looking for. And not too soon either ā the moon would rise probably within the next ten minutes. Carlos ventured forth, holding his flashlight up to search the inside of the cave. Hopefully it was empty. Could a werewolf beat a bear? Maybe?
āThey Seem To Be After Me.. Leaving Painful Traps Everything They Go..ā he huffed softly
This made Carlos suspicious.
Why would they be after you? Youāre not… hurting anybody, are you?
Hereās the whole video. Itās calledĀ āDonāt Be A Suckerā and itās 17 minutes long.
donāt just scroll past this actually watch it, itās only 2 minutes long. If you re-recorded this today word for word with modern actors and places, it wouldnāt even look out of place as a PSA
They left out the best line:Ā āRemember this when you hear this kind of talk – someoneās going to get something out of it. And it isnāt going to be you.ā

he huffed annoyedly āWhy Would I Go After The Children? I Said Iām Already Full And They Seem To Be A Bad Choice In Food.ā
Carlos just huffed back. I donāt know. I donāt even know you.
he used his wing as a shiled as he pushed past himĀ āAnd I Donāt Eitherā
Carlos growled. He nipped at the wing without even thinking, but not hard.
I want to make sure youāre not going anywhere near them.
he didnāt really react to the nip, glancing back at himĀ āThen.. Follow ?ā
Carlos looked at them, making a low, suspicious-sounding huff. Fine. Iāll follow.
he started trotting forward, his tail wagging softly
Carlos went after the other beast, a bit stiff and cautious as they went on. He occasionally sniffed the air, trying to see if he could smell anybody near them. If one of the kids was wandering about, or if they got too close to the camp, Carlos was going to have to do something.
Gosh⦠he hoped Angie was being a good girl and was asleep in her tent.
after abit of walking, they reached the stream, but he stopped a few feet away from it, carefully looking around as he crouched in the bushes
Carlos looked at the other creature strangely. What are you doing?
āSometimes Thereās Not Nice Humans Out Here..ā he hesitately moved towards the stream
Why would they come to the stream in the middle of the night? Carlos asked.
āThey Come At Random..ā he took another glance around before drinking
Carlos sat beside him and looked around, deciding that he could at least keep watch. Why do they do that?
Carlos was a little slow to return the hug, but he did when he feared
that Hancock might lose his grip and fall somehow. Also, Hancock looked
so incredibly vulnerable⦠Carlosā heart was hurting just from seeing
the tears. Hancock didnāt ever cry. Carlos felt like a monster for
making him cry, and he also felt like crying himself.
Carlos took in a shuddering breath ā oh, he really did feel like crying! He breathed again, trying to even it out so he could speak.
āHancockā¦
itās o-okay,ā Carlos told him softly. āYouāll be okay. We got some
medicine in you⦠Iāll get this place cleaned up, and with some rest
youāll be just fine.ā
Carlos supposed he should have been mad
about the substance binge, but he realized that really he was just
scared. He wanted Hancock to be well again. Thatās all he wanted.
āāM okay.ā He whispered, nodding slightly and squeezing Carlos tighter. He wasnāt particularly concerned with his own health, he never really had been, but it mattered to him that it mattered to Carlos.
āAre you mad at me?ā The ghoul asked softly with a little sniffle. āIā¦ā¦ I donāt want you to be mad. I didnāt mean toāā you were gone and I didnāt think you were coming backā¦ā¦ I was scaredā¦ā¦ā
Carlos swallowed, hard. āIām not mad at you, Han,ā he said softly. āI just want you to be okay.ā He sighed, and he felt his throat tighten painfully. āI-I… Iām… sorry f-for leaving like that… I just went to t-the workshop. I thought you would need… need some space. After the way I re… reacted…ā
Now probably wasnāt the time for this sort of discussion, but Carlos couldnāt help it. He just wanted to get it out there, hoping that Hancock might somehow understand. Carlos messed up so badly and Hancock was paying for it… He didnāt know what to do really.
