There are better ways to ward off boredom. When we find that gun, you’re not getting it back.
what?! that’s insane! *he crossed his arms*
Max, guns aren’t toys. They’re dangerous weapons that, frankly, children shouldn’t be playing with or even touching.
*he mumbles something, glancing around the firepit*
What was that, Max?
i said i think i left it over there
*Carlos looks to the firepit. With a frown he goes closer to investigate.*
*he followed close behind* it’s either here or by the firewood.. or in a tree
In a tree? Why? *Carlos gently moved at some of the foliage dropped from nearby trees with his foot*
i like to climb and the twins can’t climb, it was the perfect spot for me *he wanders towards the firewood*
Doesn’t look like it’s over here by the fire pit… *he gets down on his hands and knees to peer under the benches to make double-sure*
*there’s a couple water balloons? but not much else* one less place to check i guess.. *looking through the pile of wood*
*confused carlos noises* Water balloons? I thought you were using guns?
*he shrugs* war has many weapons, Carlos, you never know what to expect
How are water balloons weapons? What kind of gunfight was this?
it was- oh i found it! *he smiled widely, moving logs out of the way*
*sighs* Thank god… *he gets up and walks over toward Max*
*he picked it up, it looked.. abit big to by a pistol but also too small to be anything else*
Okay. Lemme see it. *holds out his hand* You shouldn’t just leave these lying around – you need to be responsible for your weapons if you’re going to have them, Max.
Fuck if I know. I asked him just about the same question.
What did he say?
He said “he was never fired just took a hiatus.” Or something like that.
Wow… that’s… I don’t even know what that is.
*max shrugged again and leaned back* I dunno..
Well, we’ll keep our eyes open and just watch him. Though… I don’t think he should be near any of you at all.
You could take it up with David. *max crossed his arms and muttered* Doubt he’ll listen though.
You said David didn’t quite grasp what happened, didn’t you?
That’s an understatement.
Yeah, yeah. But he needs to know what’s going on… so I’ll see about talking to him.
*Max shrugged* alright.
*Carlos finally took off another break of his bar and ate it noisily* We’re almosh to the campf.
Oh, cool.
*they drove on, Carlos chewing more loudly than preferred, and soon they were coming up the dirt road back to camp.*
*max was a little irritated with Carlos’ loud cheekng but he decided just to keep quiet*
*Carlos finally stopped the car as he munched on the last break of his Kit-Kat. He shut it off and got out, grabbing the other candy and the bottle of soda.*
*max pushed open the car door and hopped out.*
Where should we set up? By the fire pit? THere’s benches there. Or maybe at Science Camp?
“Well, you have to stay because I’m staying here,” Carlos said, rolling his eyes. “C’mon, it’ll be fun – there’s loads of activities here – I’m sure you’ll find something to like!”
“Dios mio, how old is that thing?” Maria whispered. It looked older than the tv at their Abuela’s house and that was sayinging something.
“Why, it’s been here since I was a camper here at Camp Campbell!” David told her, eyes becoming far away and starry. “Our wonderful founder Cameron Campbell bought it himself. Oh, if only he could be here now. But he’s off adventuring and not hiding from government officials.”
“Riiiiight…” Maria trailed off as she looked up to the man and then back to Carlos. “So.. camp tour?”
“In a minute – after the… is that really a laserdisk?” Carlos suddenly asked, watching Gwen pick up the round vinyl-like object.
“Yeah,” Gwen said as she opened the player. “One of the only things that still works here…”
She put the disk in and turned on the TV. But when the disk started to spin there was suddenly a low grinding noise and a couple of sharp snaps before the disk stopped moving. Gwen stared at the player in disbelief and opened it to pull out the disk. However, when she picked up the disk, half of it broke off and fell to the ground with a shatter.
