“Carlos I refuse to stay here all summer.” Maria huffed arms crossed over her chest, stomping her foot. The 10 year old was not pleased at all by this. (Camp Camp AU~)

“Well, you have to stay because I’m staying here,” Carlos said, rolling his eyes. “C’mon, it’ll be fun – there’s loads of activities here – I’m sure you’ll find something to like!”

“Gwen!” David greeted happily. “This is Carlos and this is Maria.”

“Please tell me you are at least sane.” Maria towards the woman pleadingly. “He’s too happy to be real.”

“Why thank you! Now, why don’t I tell you both all about Camp Campbell! I even have this song…” David said, starting to pull a guitar from no where seemingly.

“No songs,” Gwen interrupted him, completely unapologetically. “I just helped Dolph clean up some of the paint that Nurf made him eat so I’m not in the mood.”

Carlos was staring at the neck of the guitar sprouting from somewhere behind David’s legs. How on Earth…?

*he chuckles softly* yeah.. *he falls over in his seat with a soft ‘oof’*

Max? Max, talk to me, buddy. Are you still awake? *Carlos had to keep his eyes on the road, but he kept glancing at the rear-view mirror hoping to see Max sit up again.*

*he mumbled something about being tired, curling up into a little ball of white and red*

Max? Max! Stay awake! We’re almost there! *Carlos rounded a corner and there it was – the hospital*

*no response, good thing the hospitals right there, right?-*

*It was a blur for Carlos from there. He didn’t remember driving up to the emergency portal. Just that Max was taken out of the car. He didn’t remember if he parked his car or if a valet did it for him. But hours later he was in post-op, sitting with Max and waiting for him to wake up.*

*maybe half an hour later, he finally stirred awake, looking around the room in a slight panic as he tried to remember what happened. he relaxed slightly when he saw Carlos* C-Carlos..? what happened..?

*sits up suddenly, surprised and relieved that Max was now awake.* Hey! Uh – uh, I got you to the hospital. I think you passed out… I was trying to keep you talking. Do you remember that?

*he glanced away as he thought, shaking his head a minute later* n-not really.. b-but thanks.. *he forced a small smile, whincing as he sat up slightly*

Hey, hey, careful! You had some internal bleeding.

*he sighs softly, laying back down* gods damn it…

It’s okay now, Max. Just relax, okay?

*he hesitately nods, glancing out the window* what time is it..?

It’s morning. Is… was there someplace you needed to be?

*he shakes his head softly* it just looked kinda late…

Well, yeah, the sun’s still coming up so it’s pretty dark… you were out for a while.

*he shifts, looking back at Carlos* feels like it… how long am i going to be here..?

Not sure. They wanted to see how you would wake up. But I’ll try to expedite getting you out of here, since you don’t like it here so much.

Heck yeah, absolutely! Going to the store!

I mean, we got filtered water, the camp ain’t that shitty.

*Carlos just looks at him. He grabs the bags and thanks the clerk* Let’s go. You still have that funnel?

*max patted the front of his pocket* yeah.

Awesome. So, we need to think of a quick-release system, because the reaction will be almost instant. I say… put a paper or a stick at the bottom of the funnel, then load the neck with the Mentos. We position it over the bottle and remove the paper so they all drop almost immediately one after another.

That won’t be hard.

Alright. *he offers Max the bag of candy* Here – I need to get my keys.

*Max held the bag under his arm and put his hands in his pocket.*

*Carlos pulled his keys from his labcoat and unlocked the car. He went and opened the back door for Max.*

Thanks. *max climbed into the back seat and tossed the bag to the front.*

*Carlos shut the door and walked around to get in the driver’s side. He put the soda in the front passenger seat and opened the bag, pulling out the Kit-Kat package. He opened it and took one of the bars out, reaching back to hand it to Max.* Here you go.

Thanks, *Max took the kit-kat and just held it for a couple minutes.*

*Carlos opened his own and snapped off a break. He put it in his mouth before putting on his belt and putting the car in drive.*

“Well, you have to stay because I’m staying here,” Carlos said, rolling his eyes. “C’mon, it’ll be fun – there’s loads of activities here – I’m sure you’ll find something to like!”

As if on cue, the door flew open revealing a tall, thin man who was grinning broadly at the sight of them.

“Carlos! I’m so happy to have here with us at Camp Campbell!” The man
said brightly, shaking Carlos’ hand far too enthusiastically before
bending down in front of Maria. “And you must be Maria! I’m David and
we’re also very excited to have you join our group of campers!”

The girl blinked rapidly before leaning around David to look at her brother “Absolutamente jodidamente no.”

Cállate y siéntate,” Carlos told her. He smiled at David. “I’m sure she’s going to have lots of fun here,” he said. “Hey, uh… where’s the other counselor? I though there were two adults here…”

Maria grumbled but still sat down at a table. She knew she’d have been grounded for saying that at home, so she was really pushing her luck.

“Gwen should be along soon, don’t you worry!” David said, not seeming deterred by the exchange.

“Uh, alright,” Carlos said. He glanced at Maria then back at David. “So, where are the other…”

DAVID! Don’t fucking leave me with –”

The woman who had burst through the door paused when she saw Carlos and Maria there. She groaned and scrubbed at her face with one of her hands. “Christ, that’s right… new campers.”

Carlos frowned at her. “Uh, actually, I’m the assistant counselor,” he said to her. He tugged at his green camp shirt to illustrate.
