“That
we could possibly do. Though I think talking to you helps him. He’s
made a bond with you. And when your there he seems…. happier. Don’t stop
talking to my boy. He needs you. Now. Icecream. Wheels. Mr. Ramon it’s
been a pleasure.”

Edwardo walked up and gave his card to Carlos before offering Yondu his hand. “It has been,” he said, smiling at Yondu. “Take care of those boys, and try not to get into too much trouble.”

“See you around in the sky,” Mikey responded with a grin. “Oh – do you need these translator things back?” He reached up to point to the device just below his ear.

Yondu shakes his head. “No keep them. You ever want to call or my boys want a chat you’ll be able to understand them. If they break let me know. Carlos can show you how to use the long distance comunicators. Just….. be careful not to lose them ok.” Shakes Eduardo’s hand then fist bumps Mikey as he heads out to the car.

“In the meantime, keep them hidden in your guys’ wallet or something,” Carlos suggested. “I’ll be back soon.”

“Oh, Carlos – take my phone,” Mr Ramon said. “If you need anything, call Mikey’s. Then when you get back… we’ll come up with a story for how you got found.”

Carlos  nodded. “Okay, Dad.” He hugged his dad. “I’ll see you soon.” He turned and hurried out to the car with Yondu.

Yondu smiles already in the car and looks to him. “Ok carlos. Let’s go get some good bye icecream. Sure you don’t want to come with me?”

Carlos climbed into the driver’s side and pulled on his seatbelt. He looked at Yondu and sighed. “I can’t, Yondu. I was born and raised on Earth. It was my intellect that kept me afloat out in space, and even then I was still just… it was tough.” Carlos let out a breath. He gestured toward Yondu. “Seatbelt, please.”

“It was worth a try…” Puts on his seatbelt and as they pull away his ears wiggle and twitch with every sound as they come to a building that had a giant fake icecream cone on the roof. “Dairy Queen…. Huh……” once parked he gets out following carlos in keeping his hood up and covering his face. He glanced at the board of sweets. “Strawberry dipped in chocolate.”

Carlos looked at him. “Oh, that’s yummy. The dipped cones is a soft ice cream that is dipped in a candy shell that hardens from the cold. I usually like the chocolate dip on my chocolate, but the cherry dip is pretty good too. And it comes in an edible cup-like cookie which at the end is a great break-up of the cold treat you just had, I think.”

Yondu grins watching. “Three dips. Lots of chocolate. I rather love that sweet.” The cashier gives Yondu a confused weird look having no clue what he said.

Yondu looks to carlos for help then thinks trying some English. “Staabeary an chocooopate looots cocoopate.”

The worker blinks then nods starting to make a strawberry and chocolate cone and dipping it a few times.

Carlos smiles kindly at the cashier, nodding to them as a silent thanks for their patience. “And when you’re done, a chocolate cone dipped in chocolate. Thank you very much.” He positioned himself a bit in front of Yondu so that they didn’t have as good of a chance to glance back at him.

Yondu smiles and wraps his arms around him laying his head on his shoulder relaxing and sighs. “Getting tired… my hibernations not to fat off….. Pete’s gonna need ya big time during that.”

Carlos nodded. “Yeah, I’ll have the comm with me,” he promised. “He can try to reach me whenever. It’ll be impossible to really convey what my schedule is with the difference on the ship, so I’ll just message him if I need him to wait a bit. When is Kraglin going to sleep? At least not for another month… right?”

“Yeah he’ll sleep right after me. We’re a little off but if he ends up falling asleep and I’m not awake yet Tullk, Half And Oblo take over and each of them would protect peter with there lives…”

Carlos hummed. “He’s got a great support group. Hey, make sure you grill him for the guys’ names who are still giving him trouble. Him and Kraglin were talking about some grief he was still getting on our trip today.”

Reaches out and takes his conecwhen handed it the worker slightly startled at blue hand but shook her head thinking she was seeing things wrong in the light.

Yondu nods turning and heads to a slightly darker corner and takes the first bite humming. “I know he has….butif it’s small jibbing like calling names and such it’s… just life in space…kids gotta buck up on that… if it’s other things… or….. his… rapists…….. are still there or ones that were involved I need to know. You got your fair share of jibbing…… Krags gets his and it’s only when it goes to far do I step in…… some crew are better then others that’s for sure.”

Carlos recieved his cone and paid for the treats before following after Yondu.

“Jabbing or japing or jibbing – whatever you want to call it, it’s not doing any favors to Pete’s mental state,” Carlos told him. “The fact is he can’t take it the way he is. He needs to learn coping mechanisms and to not take things personally.”

“I know….. he’s also a teen…. apparently whatvterrans call a… depressive rebellious stage of his life. His hormones are all over the place….. I’ll have a chat with the crew… see if I can get them to lay off more…… and I may have a… person he can talk to… for coping……I love my boys…”

Carlos nodded to him. “I know you do. You’re the reason why they even put up with me that first little while. Heh…”

“Well you did threaten to punch and and kick my boys asses… though even you have to admit it benigitted you greatly.” Smirks and steals a bite from the top of Carlos’s cone.

“Hey!” Carlos exclaimed and he smacked Yondu’s elbow playfully. “You ass! And of course I did – you would do that and worse if you’d have been the one to be kidnapped.” Carlos smirked at Yondu, holding his ice cream closer to himself now.

Not so Villainous (closed w/ theblackestofhats)

theblackestofhats:

A soft cackle escaped him as
he beheld Carlos’ reaction to the sudden gloom, echoed from other
mouths he’d formed. Currently, he was spread through the darkness
like vines, eyes and mouths everywhere. It really was quite
entertaining, however belated, though he had no real idea who Old
Woman Josie and Erikas might be, or why they’d be able to block out
the sun. Eclipse initiators, perhaps?

Guess
again~”
He whispered, from all
directions, each of his mouths uttering the soft taunt in unison. He
didn’t really have much of a reason
to taunt his catch, but why not? It was fun, and it would be a good
trial run to see how he reacted to things like this.

Mostly, Carlos was confused. Whispers? All around him? Was
he in the Whispering Forest? No, he couldn’t be… the voices weren’t saying how
nice his hair and teeth looked. But the trees have said non-complimentary
things before, so Carlos couldn’t rule that out entirely. He started to pat his
pockets for his phone – he had a flashlight on it, and he was planning to use
it to get to his car.

“Is this the Whispering Forest? I’m afraid I’m a busy man
and can’t stay – I’m a scientist after all, and scientists are very busy.”

Carlos looked at it and nodded. “Yeah. Let’s hope it’s still
kinda warm. Heh.” He finished kicking off the rest of his vault suit and Carlos
quickly picked it up from the floor and put it on the back of a chair. He made
a mental note to wash it that night so he could dry it. As for his underwear…
Carlos hesitated for a moment, but he took a quick breath and dropped them
before kicking them toward the chair to be washed later too.

He turned to glance at Hancock and give him a slightly
nervous smile before heading for the tub, not giving the other much time to look
him over before he actually got in the tub. The water was still kinda warm,
which was good, and Carlos didn’t waste time crouching down and sitting pressed
against one end of the tub.

I have two pods left,, that kinda worked out.

alright then! Lemme take this to the table so we can sit down. *he shuts off the water and takes the half-filled pot out of the kitchen*

Do you need me to look out again?

Yeah – just lemme know if I got the bottom of the pot over the edge of the table, yeah?

Alright.

*he heads for one of the tables.* Okay, here we are… tell me where I am, Max.

Lift it a little more and you should be good.

Alright *lifts the pot higher and slides it onto the table.* Okay – awesome!

*max put the pods on the table and stood on the bench to look in the pot* you got the timer?

*Carlos pulls out his phone and pulls up the app again* Yep – got it. Ready?

*he grabed one of the pods* yep.

Okay – Pop it in!

Cool. *max put the pod into the pot*

*Carlos starts the timer* So… hypothesis time. What do you think will happen with this? This is the control, but it’s still good to come up with a hypothesis.

I think it’ll probably pop faster since this is clean water.

Hmmm… interesting theory. We’ll just have to wait and see then, won’t we? *he smiles at Max*

*max nods looking in the pot* I,,, think it popped?

Huh? *peers into the pot* What, really? Huh… I coulda sworn it would have taken longer… *he picks up the other pod and gently pokes at the membrane, trying to gauge how thick it is*

Yeah I’m pretty sure some soap shit is comin’ out.

Hey!

And yeah… it’s coming out. Wanna wait a second before we drop in the second one?

Yeah. What’s the time?

Oh! Um… nearly a minute. About… about fifty-three seconds. The water isn’t particularly hot, is it? *he touches it* Oh – it’s warm. Damn… I should have used cold, like the lake water. Oh well.

We could get ice. Make it colder.

Yeah, sure. We still have one pod left, so let’s get it done right. I’ll go grab a bucket of ice. *he stands up to head back to the kitchen*

Alright, cool.

*carlos rummaged around in the kitchen a bit before coming back out with a pitcher full of ice.* Here we go.

Don’t put all of it in at once.

Yeah… I think i’ll start with maybe half of it, or a third… see where the temperature is after that.

Carlos didn’t usually just go around kissing folks. But he was at least safe in the knowledge that Percival wouldn’t just punch him outright. Maybe.

Carlos gently touched the man’s arm to get his attention, and while Percival was turned toward him Carlos got up on his toes a bit and pressed a gentle – just a touch of the lips – kiss to the Director’s mouth.

@thegravemistergraves

“Ah… not really” He said a bit awkwardly.

Percival looked at him and gently set his hand on Carlos’ shoulder, squeezing gently. “… I think we’re just making this a bit more awkward than it needs to be is all.”

Carlos’ shoulders slumped a little and he looked downward. “Uh… yeah, I… I guess,” he said softly. “Sorry about that…” God, he needed to shut up. Shutting up.

I’d totally fuck you – a wasted thegravemistergraves

“This wayyy.” He said moving into the kitchen. He waved his hand, but when the door to the cupboard did not swing open, he went the old fashioned way, grabbing two large glasses and filling them with water from the sink.

“here..” He said holding it out to him.

Carlos grinned at him, taking the glass. “Thanks,” he said softly and he quickly downed the water. The taste of nothing caught Carlos a little off-guard, but it was cold which was nice. He let out a sigh, holding the empty glass. “I said ‘welcome’, by the way,” he said suddenly. “Earlier… ‘Welcome to Graves’ house’. Or, ‘Welcome to the Graves House’. Whichever you think sounds better…”

He chuckled. “Ah I see. The Graves house.” he chuckled. “That sounds nice. Official.”

Percival took a sip of his own water taking the empty glass from the other. “I should have said welcome.” he he offered a drunken grin.

Carlos shrugged. “S’okay,” he murmured. “I said it already, so you don’t have to! Now… where’s your potions? You gotta take something or you’ll be very unhappy in the morning.”

Not so Villainous (closed w/ theblackestofhats)

theblackestofhats:

The transfer had been
successful, no parts of the station left behind – although the same
could not be said for the car, which still rested back where it had
been parked. Black Hat would have expected Carlos to have noticed
something by now, with that computer the only source of light, but it
seemed that the human was quite definitively focused in on what he
was doing, something that reminded him of how Flug could get
sometimes.

It was amusing, but the horror
had no real way of knowing how long Carlos would puzzle over the
description and dating of those cells. If it took him too long, it
could get boring just hanging around and watching him. Perhaps if he
began some eerie whispers? Those were a classic. Not actually having
explored Night Vale, he had no way of knowing just what Carlos was
used to.

The scientist was quick to refresh himself on earlier
findings, thankfully, and he turned off the screen of his tablet to set it down
on the table.

But as soon as he did, he froze. Where had the sun gone? It
didn’t set early, did it? He quickly hit the light-up button on his watch to
check it. He should have had another good two hours before any unexpected
sunsets.  So… what was going on?

“Old Woman Josie?” he called out, his voice laced with
confusion and uncertainty. “E… Erikas? Are any of you there? Did… did you block
out the sun again?” If they did, then there was the potential that Carlos was in danger. Where was his danger meter again? Oh – he left it in the car. He just had to get to it somehow.
