Will it? Oh, that’s good to hear!

*he laughs and claps, looking over when the car pulls up, making random excided noises when he sees Carlos* papa! papa!

*Carlos blinks and scrunches his eyebrows in confusion as he
approaches.* Is he babbling? Has he been doing that the whole time?

A: No, Papa, he’s saying your name! Listen!

*it’s kinda a mix of both, Max smiles and reachs up at Carlos* papa! pap!

C: What? Oh my god… Oh my god, Max, you’re so smart! Say it again! Say ‘Papa’!

papa! *he giggles, clapping his little hands and babbling slightly*

A: He’s so cute!

C: He is! *he reaches and takes the baby from Angie.* Angie,
go hop in the car. But go in the back seat this time – babies can’t be in the
front seat.

A: Okay, papa! *she gets up and starts to go for the car.*

*he stops giggling when he sees Angie start leaving* an-gee..! *he clings to Carlos’ coat and yawns*

*Carlos follows her and stands by the door, waiting for her to get buckled in. He then leans down to hand Max to her.* Here you go – make sure to hold onto him. I’ll drive slowly.

A: Okay, papa. *she smiles and holds her arms out for Max*

smiles at that and sits next to him. “Yes and no. The implant gives
signal but the will to make it sing and fly is from our hearts… our
drive…I haven’t gotten it to fly for a while….” whistles the arrow
flashing but doesn’t move and sighs.

Carlos felt his heart clench. “God… how long has this been going on? Have you had the implant checked? Maybe there’s a connection issue to your brain or your nerves or something…”

hey d- Carlos, sense you already meet Darcy, do you wanna come to our wedding when we get married? *he smiles*

I mean, I have to I guess. But I had no idea – you guys are just kids, aren’t you??

@dedmaxsearchhistory

*he shrugs* i could ask her sometime…. have you ever met anyone who could turn into an animal? like a werewolf?

Well, I have heard of a woman who turned into a lizard as a gift because of her donation to the local college. But… that’s about it, I think.

Carlos nodded to her. “Absolutely,” he said.
He grabbed a pen from his bag and uncapped it, barely able to hold in an
excited smirk.

She can’t help but chuckle softly at his excitement. She takes some boiling water off the small fire on the other side of the room and pours some in a cup. From this point on, she moves slowly, letting Carlos take notes. She takes the tea leaves from a box and places them in the cup, letting them seep in the water as she grabs the medicinal herbs that she grinds up between her hands. She then stirs the herbs into the tea.

Carlos sat in the corner, trying to keep out of the way. He kept his eyes on Citra’s hands, writing down what she did with bulletpoints and dashes for each action and sub-action. He wrinkled his face a little bit at the sight of the tea (personal preference), but he asks: “What’s the base leaf you used in the tea?”

Carlos was taken off-guard, but he merely gave the other a contemplative frown before reaching out to comply. “Uh… alright,” he said.

@whispers-of-change

She smiled back at him and nodded. “Yeah. Yeah, I think you’re right,” she agreed. Wait, had- Had Carlos said the D word? Had she
said the D word? Were they actually discussing the possibility of…
dating? “So- So wait, are- are we actually talking about… the
possibility of, like… starting… something?” she asked, voice nervous.

It was Carlos’ turn to be bashful. He dropped his gaze and
reached up to scratch his cheek. “Well… I’ don’t know,” he said honestly. “I
mean, there certainly is a possibility…
but at this point in time I am unable to calculate exactly the variables
and percentages with which I can articulate our chances. I would require more
time with you… more outings… more, um… more dates.” A thought occurred to him
and he grinned. “I guess you could say… I need more date-a!”

She laughed at his pun, scrunching up her nose. “Oh that was bad,” she grinned. “But… I wouldn’t say no to offering up my time to assist in any further studies you may wish to conduct,” she said with a happy smile. So maybe she hadn’t ruined everything. Maybe things had gone just as they were supposed to. Maybe everything would be okay. “If that’s alright with you.”

Carlos just kept smiling. “Absolutely! If you’re up for it,
then I am!” Things were going so much better now – thank God! And Selina seemed
to be a lot more comfortable now. “I believe we have reached a point where the
two of us can exchange phone numbers… how does that sound to you?”

“Yeah, that sounds great!” she said, enthusiasm exuding from her as she spoke. “I’m… really glad you agreed to meet up with me. I feel like initially I came on really strong, and came across as really weird, so I was… kind of worried I’d scare you off,” she said, pulling her phone out of her pocket. She unlocked it, pulled up the screen to put in a new contact, and slid the phone across the table to Carlos.

Carlos took the phone and started to put in his number. “It’s
okay,” he said. “Like I said, we still have time to get to know each other better
and get past the awkwardness.” He added his name and saved the contact. He
handed the phone back to Selina. “Go ahead and text me so I have your number
too.”

“Yeah, that’ll be good. Although I may still be a little bit awkward after we get to know each other better, but that’s just because that’s… who I am as a person,” she said, grinning as she texted a winky face emoji to Carlos. “On a more serious note, though, as we move forward, if I ever say or do anything you don’t like, or that makes you uncomfortable, please let me know right away. Okay?” She looked at him intently, waiting for a response.

Carlos highly doubted that Selina would ever say anything
uncomfortable without realizing it first and apologizing profusely. But he just
smiled kindly to her and nodded. “Of course,” he said.

He mentally reminded
himself that it went for if he thought things were going a weird direction in
the relationship – he had a lot of knowledge about how a relationship should
go, in theory, but it was all about applying it and making sure his own
feelings were okay. It had been such a long time… he didn’t want his first
relationship in so long to hurt him.

eats were still dropped down and looks between them all feeling a bit
put on the spot. “I…… I….. Yes…. I…. can..” he glanced at mr.ramon at
times then looked away wishing he wasn’t under the scrutinizing look.

Carlos just frowned at him. “Are… are you saying that just
because you think It’ll make me happy?” he asked softly.

Glances between him and the elder terran. “No. And I hate that sad look on your face… or when your angry at me…… I like it when you smile at me.”

“If… you boys need some time to talk it out, why don’t you
get Carlos’ things up to his room? Mikey and I will start on dinner.” Mr Ramon
smiled at the two of them.

Carlos blinked at his
father. He then turned to look at Yondu to see what he thought about it.

Yondu nods. “Thank you….. I think a good talk is what we need.” Sighs and picks up Carlos’s bag and follows him to his room closing the door behind them as he looks around. “I’m selfish Arnt I…… I should lucky to have had what I did……. it just hurts……here….” puts his hand to his chest over his heart. “We centaurians…whistle with our hearts….. guide our arrows….. but…… I…. I can’t anymore because of the pain…….. gods I wish I looked more human…….”

“I’m kinda glad you don’t – blue’s my favorite color,
remember?” Carlos asked, trying to smile and joke. He then sighed and sat down
on his bed. He looked up at YOndu. “What do you mean you… can’t use your arrow?
I thought it was the implant that allowed it to move.”

Carlos held the straps of his bags tightly as he followed O’Connor
out of the bar.

He really liked this gentleman. He was one of the nicest
people Carlos had met in the Commonwealth. God, he hoped that his upcoming job
would turn out alright.

“Where are you headed after this?” Ronan asks, lighting up another cigarette once they were outside, now leading Carlos to the shop. “Or do you not have anywhere in mind?”

@the-perfect-scientist

Carlos shook his head. “Just… wherever I can find salvage,”
he said. “Though… coming to the city was a bit of a mistake. There’s raiders
and Gunners and Super Mutants everywhere – I don’t know how you guys live here.”
