Carlos wandered through the forest. He knew he’d seen a cave somewhere – it looked like an old bear cave, though he hadn’t gone in it before. He wanted to be as far away from his camp and the summer camps, in case the children had an idea to wander around at night to hunt for snipes. The full moon would make visibility perfect for it, so it was a reasonable concern in Carlos’ mind.
He finally came across the cave he was looking for. And not too soon either – the moon would rise probably within the next ten minutes. Carlos ventured forth, holding his flashlight up to search the inside of the cave. Hopefully it was empty. Could a werewolf beat a bear? Maybe?
‘They Seem To Be After Me.. Leaving Painful Traps Everything They Go..’ he huffed softly
This made Carlos suspicious.
Why would they be after you? You’re not… hurting anybody, are you?
‘Not That I’m Aware..’ he got up, moving back towards the cave
Carlos just followed after him. Maybe they’re just scared, he suggested. He knew that he was… he still didn’t even know this other creature’s name. If it even had a name. Much less what it was.
‘Then They Stay Out Of The Forest.’ he growled slightly, lowing his head as he walked
Carlos would have frowned. People just like to explore and learn about their world. That’s what the camps around here are for, at least – to help human children learn.
Carlos laughed. Or actually, he cackled. “Sorry, sorry, I won’t do it again! I just had to! I promise, only really good ones from now on!”
“You better not be lyin’ to me, man. I ain’t gonna be too happy if ya tell any more’a those lame-ass jokes.” He teased, making sure to offer a smile to the other man so he’d know he was still just kidding.
“I promise, I won’t,” Carlos chuckled. “On my honor – or may I be chopped up and made into soup.” It was honestly a weird reference, but some people got it. Non-magic folk, usually.

he huffed annoyedly ‘Why Would I Go After The Children? I Said I’m Already Full And They Seem To Be A Bad Choice In Food.’
Carlos just huffed back. I don’t know. I don’t even know you.
he used his wing as a shiled as he pushed past him ‘And I Don’t Either’
Carlos growled. He nipped at the wing without even thinking, but not hard.
I want to make sure you’re not going anywhere near them.
he didn’t really react to the nip, glancing back at him ‘Then.. Follow ?’
Carlos looked at them, making a low, suspicious-sounding huff. Fine. I’ll follow.
he started trotting forward, his tail wagging softly
Carlos went after the other beast, a bit stiff and cautious as they went on. He occasionally sniffed the air, trying to see if he could smell anybody near them. If one of the kids was wandering about, or if they got too close to the camp, Carlos was going to have to do something.
Gosh… he hoped Angie was being a good girl and was asleep in her tent.
after abit of walking, they reached the stream, but he stopped a few feet away from it, carefully looking around as he crouched in the bushes
Carlos looked at the other creature strangely. What are you doing?
‘Sometimes There’s Not Nice Humans Out Here..’ he hesitately moved towards the stream
Why would they come to the stream in the middle of the night? Carlos asked.
‘They Come At Random..’ he took another glance around before drinking
Carlos sat beside him and looked around, deciding that he could at least keep watch. Why do they do that?
Carlos was a little slow to return the hug, but he did when he feared
that Hancock might lose his grip and fall somehow. Also, Hancock looked
so incredibly vulnerable… Carlos’ heart was hurting just from seeing
the tears. Hancock didn’t ever cry. Carlos felt like a monster for
making him cry, and he also felt like crying himself.
Carlos took in a shuddering breath – oh, he really did feel like crying! He breathed again, trying to even it out so he could speak.
“Hancock…
it’s o-okay,” Carlos told him softly. “You’ll be okay. We got some
medicine in you… I’ll get this place cleaned up, and with some rest
you’ll be just fine.”
Carlos supposed he should have been mad
about the substance binge, but he realized that really he was just
scared. He wanted Hancock to be well again. That’s all he wanted.
“‘M okay.” He whispered, nodding slightly and squeezing Carlos tighter. He wasn’t particularly concerned with his own health, he never really had been, but it mattered to him that it mattered to Carlos.
“Are you mad at me?” The ghoul asked softly with a little sniffle. “I…… I don’t want you to be mad. I didn’t mean to–– you were gone and I didn’t think you were coming back…… I was scared……”
Carlos swallowed, hard. “I’m not mad at you, Han,” he said softly. “I just want you to be okay.” He sighed, and he felt his throat tighten painfully. “I-I… I’m… sorry f-for leaving like that… I just went to t-the workshop. I thought you would need… need some space. After the way I re… reacted…”
Now probably wasn’t the time for this sort of discussion, but Carlos couldn’t help it. He just wanted to get it out there, hoping that Hancock might somehow understand. Carlos messed up so badly and Hancock was paying for it… He didn’t know what to do really.

“I think so,” Carlos said. “I’m 35. Also, you were the ‘young goof’ because you already named me Big Goof. So there.” Carlos grinned as they went into the bedroom and he shut the door behind them. He reached to undo the clasp on his Pip-boy so he could put it down.
“Eh, we’re close, I’ll be there soon.” Hancock shrugged, the smile still on his face. He neglected to tell him just when he’d be the same age, but if Carlos really wanted to know, all he had to do was ask. As they stepped into the room, the ghoul stretched then pulled his coat off and set it aside on a chair, kicking his shoes off a moment later. “So then, handsome. Just how comfortable do ya wanna get for this nap?”
Carlos was already pulling off his flannel, and the undershirt with it. He looked at Hancock with a blank expression as he tried to think about what Hancock said.
“Boxers okay?” he asked. Skin-on-skin contact wasn’t something Carlos would shy away from. And it was warm enough as long as they cuddled together. Though if Hancock was asking if he wanted to go nude, he honestly felt weird about it. Not in the way that Hancock might fear however, as Carlos always preferred to wear at least boxers to bed.
