Carlos smiled a little wryly. “What, the Pip-boy didn’t tip you off?” he asked. “Yeah, uh, I’m from Vault 105. I’m actually wearing my vault suit under my flannel shirt here…” He reached up pull back the collars of both his labcoat and flannel to shown the Vault-Boy Blue. “I layer because it’s kinda cold in the Commonwealth.”

“I guess I’ve just never really noticed it.” Kira says, glancing down to his side at the bulky wrist wear. She wasn’t a very observant person a lot of the time, how embarrassing.

His revelation of the blue under his clothes made her smile widely, it was like he was undercover. How mysterious.

“How strange. From Vault 105 you say?” She recalls just what the experiment was on that particular vault. “That’s a ways away Carlos. How long have you been gone?”

Carlos let go of his collar and shrugged slightly. “It’s… it’s been a while,” he said. “Honestly, I haven’t been keeping track.”

Except he had been. He knew exactly what day it was that he had been sent out. He just didn’t acknowledge it verbally because… well, it just depressed him, to say the very least.

Carlos gave her a small smile back. “Yeah. I, uh… wasn’t aware of how ‘sheltered’ the media back in the vault was. So… it’s been interesting.”

“You’re from a vault? I never knew that.” Kira puts her hands on her hips, looking him over. Though, now his shyness made alot more sense.

“What vault you from Carlos?”

Carlos smiled a little wryly. “What, the Pip-boy didn’t tip you off?” he asked. “Yeah, uh, I’m from Vault 105. “Well, it helps that you pay me,” Carlos joked with a chuckle. “But really, I do appreciate that there’s someone who values old-world knowledge. And when I do find them, I have something new to read when I have some down time myself, so… yeah.

Kira smiles, “That is true. I’m sure that’s a decent incentive…”

Though he seemed appreciative of her ‘hoarding’. Most people found it ‘peculiar’ or ‘messy’. As if collecting them was merely a waste of space.

“I’m glad that you take the time to read them before you bring them to me. At least I know the condition is mostly readable at best.”

Carlos gave her a small smile back. “Yeah. I, uh… wasn’t aware of how ‘sheltered’ the media back in the vault was. So… it’s been interesting.”

The smell of aged paper reminds Carlos of Kira. Any sort of paper really, because when he smells it he instantly wonders ‘Is this a salvagable book? Will Kira like it?’

Tell my muse what scents yours associates with them.

((That’s so sweet. ❤ Kira for sure smells like old dusty books.))

“That’s not surprising, I hoard large amounts of old books in my home. No doubt that it has clung to me. It’s really nice to know that you think about bringing them to me or not and everything though.”

“Well, it helps that you pay me,” Carlos joked with a chuckle. “But really, I do appreciate that there’s someone who values old-world knowledge. And when I do find them, I have something new to read when I have some down time myself, so… yeah.”

“I met a man named Joe Black today. …I’m not sure I’m ready to meet him again.”

Carlos wondered if that statement begged a response. Maybe the man was just speaking out loud.

“Well… some people are just strange, I guess,” he said, barely sparing a glance to the other person. “Having a weird feeling might mean that things aren’t right.” Like right now. Carlos had a weird feeling that he’d seen this man somewhere before, but he couldn’t place it.

He had said it when the waitress had asked ‘what’s eatin’ ya, hon?’  She had shrugged it off but the man next to him at the counter had responded.  Tony glanced sideways through his shades, not answering for a moment.

“Something definitely wasn’t right with him,” Tony finally replied.  He wasn’t about to spill all of the tumultuous feelings that had come with speaking to that man.  He didn’t want to acknowledge them to begin with.

Carlos hummed and nodded. He reached for some cream and sugar to treat his coffee – his first actual coffee in a while and he was going to milk it for all it was worth (heh, nice. Good joke, Carlos – internal self high-five.)

“Probably best to stay away from him, then,” Carlos suggested as he sweetened his coffee with more sugar than what any other person would deem necessary. “It’s my experience that one should listen to those feelings.” He wasn’t exaggerating.

🍑 [haha]

Send ‘🍑’ for my Muse to find Yours bent over something with their ass on display

What the hell? Where was this guy’s cloak? Carlos realized this was the Collector’s home basically, but he seemed entirely too comfortable in front of guests.

Or maybe that was just Carlos’ ‘humanness’ getting in the way. Either way, he wasn’t going to be caught staring. He may essentially be a little more than a ‘pet’, but he wasn’t going to ogle someone when it wasn’t explicitly invited.
