Carlos hadn’t been to a circus in years – not since he was little. But there had been a raffle at work and Carlos had won a coupon for a free ticket. He kinda hoped that his brother and/or his dad were in town so he could invite them to go with him.
Carlos made his way to the ticket office that was set up, standing in the line with his coupon as he looked at everything around him. Some things were different than what he remembered or imagined a circus to be like, but not everything could be a dated cliche trope he supposed.
Once at the ticket office he smiled and offered the coupon. “Hey… this any good?” he asked in a joking manner.
The
acrobat was back at the labs without even being summoned, he didn’t
want to be alone at the moment with all of these thoughts of pursuing a
relationship with the father or not. He needed a distraction, and what
better to distract himself with but a handsome scientist.“May I see Carlos? He’s a scientist here..” He prepped the reception, tapping his fingers along the sil.
Jake looked at Skip. “Oh, you’re the one from earlier today, aren’t you?” he asked. “Carlos has been working on your samples all day. He might have some information for you.” The scientist smiled at him. “Come on back with me. Just don’t touch anything – Carlos has the samples exposed at the moment.”
Yeah, he was totally gonna get his sticky little hands on everything! Just to spite them!
He kept his arms to himself in worry that he would knock something over, actually taking measures to stuffing his hands into his pockets and walking in line with Jake. His nerves weren’t the best at the moment, so practically being in a museum was rather nerve racking. “Really, all day just over me?”
How flattering.
“Over your samples, yeah,” Jake said with a grin. “He’s pretty excited about it, I think. There he is.. Hey, Carlos!”
Carlos looked up from his microscope and grinned widely when he spotted Skip. “Hey there! I did’nt expect to see you so soon.”
Well, it was flattering.
Skip gave a gentle smile over to Carlos, clasping his hands in front of him and swaying a bit. “Yeah, things were.. Weird, so I didn’t go home with him. I thought I’d take my mind off it! Find anything cool?”
Carlos opened his mouth to start explaining, but he stopped himself. He remembered the last night and Skip’s apparent disinterest in his work.
“Um, well… yeah, I did,” he said carefully. “But, uh… is there anything you want to talk about first?”
