@ the-perfect-scientist Carlos can we make

“Uh, I dunno Max… we’d need to find a safe area where we can’t accidentally burn everything around us. A forest might not be the best place…”

but fire is cool..! big fire is better

Not in the middle of a forest, Max. But I’ll keep mey eye open for a more controlled space we can use. This looks like loads of fun!

yeah! *he smiles excidedly* til then.. can we set other stuff on fire?

Uh… maybe in the kitchen or in the fire pit. Those are two safe paces to do that.

i can work with that *he shrugs* what should we burn first?

Well… what do you have in mind?

well.. i have a couple things i need to burn so no one will see but after that, no idea..

Wait, what would you need to burn?

i.. can’t tell you, it just need to be forgotten

Max, you should know that you can tell me anything. But I guess the really important thing I need to know is will destroying this stuff hurt someone else?

*he shakes his head* nope! in fact, it’ll be better if these things are gone

Well okay then. That’s good enough for me. Wanna go start a fire in the fire pit? 🙂

yeeeeeesssssssssss *he excidedly races off towards the fire pit*

*Carlos just laughs and follows after Max.* There’s plenty of fuel near the pit, right?

yeah! one of the counselors always keeps the pile of logs as tall as me so we won’t run out!

As tall as you? That’s… a big log. Is the fire pit very big?

*he laughs* no! it’s a pile of logs, not one big one!

Oh, the pile is tall as you. Okay. Sorry, I just thought that each log was as big as you. Okay, I understand.

My Fingers Slipped @partyplanningforsuckers The heat only seemed to be packed in at the circus, with the hundreds of citizens that had swarmed like ants and the intense rides that seemed to have a life of their own. The smell of sugary cotton candy and popcorn was enough to lure anyone who had just come from a days work, the circus was the place to be. With a circle of sand and tigers, along with swinging trapeze and double jointed dancers, the main stage was selling ticket for such a view.

Carlos hadn’t been to a circus in years – not since he was little. But there had been a raffle at work and Carlos had won a coupon for a free ticket. He kinda hoped that his brother and/or his dad were in town so he could invite them to go with him.

Carlos made his way to the ticket office that was set up, standing in the line with his coupon as he looked at everything around him. Some things were different than what he remembered or imagined a circus to be like, but not everything could be a dated cliche trope he supposed.

Once at the ticket office he smiled and offered the coupon. “Hey… this any good?” he asked in a joking manner.

@partyplanningforsuckers

“Oh, I went underage drinking and some things got wild!” He giggled, avoiding the true answer to the question, “It’s not important- is there another test?”

Carlos shook his head. “No, not right now,” he said. “I need to think about your situation and come up with a way to get some kind of sample from you. The most I can do is maybe skin or hair samples… urine samples too, I guess. But I’m hesitant to do anything for fear of hurting you, you know? And that stuff might not tell me very much about you, considering your… unique circumstance.”

“Ah-“ Skip finally felt that uncomfortable stage of being the wrong person for the wrong things, all he wanted was just to give out some of his blood, too bad he had forgotten he couldn’t bleed. But his bones were still thick and gurthy with marrow- couldn’t they be robbed? “Sorry about that.. I guess I forgot.. Are you gonna dismiss me now- or anything else?”

“Well, I can get cell samples from inside of your mouth to start on,” Carlos said. “Though I feel like it could be just the beginning of figuring out what’s going on with you.” Carlos then paused. “That is… if you’re okay with that.”

“Oh, yeah it’s fine.. Do you have a kit or something?” The acrobat asked as he perked up and looked over the scientist with intrigue, “Maybe I could get my date to see you- I’m pretty sure he bleeds,” He laughed gently, shaking his head with a soft smile.

“Yeah, I’ve got a kit,” Carlos said as he turned in his chair. He opened a drawer and started searching for a sterile cotton swab. “Who’s your date, by the way? Just out of curiosity?”

A hand moved to his mouth with fingers brushing his lips as he smiled over them. “Mr.— Ah, I mean Earl Harlan.. He’s a few years my senior, but I don’t mind.. He’s a sweetheart.” He paused his slight tangent and glanced up, “You know him?”

Carlos blinked. “Uh, sort of. I know of him. He was the scout master in town, right?”

Carlos grinned at him. “Yeah? Well give it a while… I’m sure that soon you’re going to be groaning at my work. It’s okay – I”m used to it. Puns are just some of my favorites.”

“We’ll see, I s’pose. Puns ain’t exactly my favorite form of humor, but that’s alright, I like ya well enough to overlook that.” He winked. “You get a lotta groans from folks for jokin’ around? Why is that? People in the states don’t like to laugh or something?”

Carlos chuckled. “Nah, nah, it’s just… I said them so often. I’d be met with a unanimous groaning of ‘Carlos…’ if it was a particularly bad one. My classmates often found them pretty… punishing.”

“What makes you say that? I have been sleeping just fine!” Of course, that was a lie but why would he outwardly confess to being so sleep deprived from having nightmares almost every day due to Titan

@the-perfect-scientist

“Do
you have a spot where you normally stargaze?” Peter asks looking over
at the other. “You know, Tony Stark and I are good friends… I’m sure
he’ll have something for you to look at the stars and the Space Station
with. Not to mention Mr. Stark is out of town and Pepper is with him. So
I mean I could take you there and it’s not too far from here… you could
be home in time to sleep and wake up and go to your interview?”

Peter shook his head “honestly I don’t know much about Venom
yet to tell you if he’s a threat around here or not. Aside from the bank
robbing and all I don’t really have anything on him. I’m just being
cautious.” He shrugs. “But, you might be right he might not come over
here and bother anyone.”

“I used to go an hour or two outside the city,” Carlos said. “There’s a field near some woods that I like to go to.” But Spidey’s offer both surprised and bothered Carlos. “Um… thanks for the offer, but… it’s probably not a good idea for me to be anywhere near Stark’s stuff.”

Not that Carlos didn’t want to – it would be a dream come true to be able to see some of Tony Stark’s gear and use some of it. But he had a very good reason for declining.
