the forest was quiet as usual til what sounded like a storm opened up from a small circle a few feet off the ground, complete with lightening flash off and striking trees but as quickly as the the ‘storm’ started, it ended, leaving only a few burn marks and a broken man on the ground -(sending this again cause i know tumblitch eats asks) dedmax, a starter for jon!

Carlos went out into the storm with his equipment, since the weather was really interesting around Sleepy Peak Peak (what, with Spooky island and that one side of the lake always being covered in dark, foreboding clouds).

As he approached one of the locations of a lightning strike however he paused, seeing a person on the ground. Oh no – did it strike someone?

Carlos hurried over and dropped his equipment to the side to start inspecting the body for life.

“He-hello? Hello, can you hear me? Sir?”

J: he climbed in, wincing slightly “My boss, His son, A couple friends.. Some battles leave scars, What can You do?”

Carlos nodded. “Do you think your buddies would start up another portal to come looking for you?” Carlos asked. He paused for a moment. “You doing okay?“

J: “Short verison? Not really.. As for My friends, I doubt they’d send anyone looking for Me this soon” he buckled up

Carlos pressed his lips together, worried. “I’ll try to drive carefully,” he promised. He went around to get into his driver’s seat and put his own belt on before reaching to adjust the rear view mirror. “Why wouldn’t they send someone to look for you? Did they not see you get injured?”

J: “Well I’m guessing the portal was My bosses, But My work place is.. Uh, Literally hell so they don’t tend to care if one demon ends up dying because they can replace Me without a second thought”

Carlos looked at him. “I’m sorry but… that’s pretty shitty.” It also begged the question of what did Jon do to end up in Hell? But Carlos wasn’t going to ask that. Not yet. “Well, we’ll get you to the camp and hopefully figure out a way to get you home.”

“Sure!
Just tell me what to do,” he says, looking around for the labelling
supplies. The thought of using writing utensils was weird, this wasn’t
Night Vale.

Carlos went to a box and searched inside it for a bit before pulling out some bags and tiny plastic tupperware. He also took a labeling gun and offered it to Cecil. “Here. There’s some blank labels on my table right there as well as a marker.” He pointed to indicate where the items were. “We use the label gun to mark the place. The labels hand-done in marker are for the dates.”

Cecil grabbed the supplies and went back over to Carlos and set it up so it would be easier for them to leave. He just waited for Carlos to instruct him what to write and what to label them with.

Carlos offered Cecil to sit in his chair and started to point things out. “So these tags I wrote beforehand while collecting, we just transcribe this part into the label gun.” He did one for Cecil for a piece of pumice he found in a river bed. He stuck the label that said “PUMICE – RIVER BED .23KM” onto the top of the Tupperware container. “Then we take one of the blank labels from the sheet and write down the date. The date isn’t as important, which is why I don’t print it from the label gun.

“That sounds easy enough,” he said with a small smile, before getting to work labelling what Carlos gave him. Cecil found it almost relaxing just sitting here and labelling things with Carlos. Perhaps it was just being together again after a long separation, and not having to worry constantly about Night Vale, even if it did way heavy in the back of his mind.

Carlos was just happy to have Cecil with him while they worked. He read out tags he’d made earlier in the day for the labels and sealed the sample containers with a bright and scientific smile on his face.

At one point he leaned in to smooch Cecil on the top of his head.

Huh. You know, I had an affinity for blue hoodies when I was your age.

Oh. Who are you and why are you talking to me?

//lol chill max//

*david rushes to the hospital*

*he is waiting outside Max’s room so that when
David arrives he won’t be woken again right away*

David: is he okay?! Oh my god I could never forgive myself if something happened to him! How did this happen anyway?!

He’s fine. He’s able to wake up on his own, I
just told him to take a little nap. *sighs* I didn’t get the chance to
introduce myself. I’m Angela’s father – I’m camped nearby studying the volcano.

David: please, can you tell me how this happened? I need to know if the lake is unsafe so I can decide if I need to close it or not

*sighs again* The lake is fine. But… Max
cannot swim. Don’t let him tell you he can – it’s a lie. You need to watch him
and keep him away from it.
