Carlos hadn’t been feeling well when he got up this morning. That didn’t stop him from going down to the lab to work, of course not, but he just felt… different.
As always, while working Carlos had the radio running and he was listening to Cecil’s show in between the weather reports and the eyeless children that showed up at the station to give memos from City Council.
After years of being together Cecil could tell when Carlos wasn’t feeling right but he knew that wouldn’t stop him from going in to do science. Very little things could stop him from just that. So before Carlos left for work he told him to let him know if he needed anything.
As usual, Cecil’s work started later than Carlos’. This gave him some extra time to prepare for the day’s show, well as much as one could with the ever changing news. It didn’t take long before he was at his booth.
After Carlos’s reminder he checked that the On Air sign was in fact on and that he crossed that off of his list before starting his daily show. He was in the middle of the Community Calender when he received a message.
“Oh dear listeners,” Cecil started.
Carlos had to call it quits for the day. He couldn’t focus on anything for the life of him – he couldn’t even focus enough to run tests on himself to figure out what it was.
So, he decided that he needed to head home and shot a text to Cecil.
[TXT] Leaving the lab early today. I’ll see you when you get home. Love you ♥ -Carlos
He didn’t state the reason why because… he couldn’t explain it himself. He just wanted to be home. He was getting ready to go when the announcement about the Community Calendar started, and Cecil seemed to pause when he got to Wednesday. Carlos heard Cecil’s phone going off and realized it was just his text message.
Cecil responded to Carlos reminding him of the left overs in the fridge and when he would be home.
“I love you too,” Cecil seemed to not notice that he was saying his thoughts out loud before he continued his broadcast, “That was Carlos dear listeners. Just letting me know that he is going home early for the day. I do hope that means that he will take care of himself. He seemed rather off this morning before he left..
Continueing with Wednesday it seems like Time of Teeth and Fur is coming upon us once more. Make sure that you are well prepared for you and youre loved ones.”
Carlos had missed the announcement for Wednesday in the time that it took him to go out to his car. But soon the radio was back on as he made his way home, feeling his nerves grow more and more agitated. He didn’t know what was going on with him – it was like something was uncoiling in his chest and his skin itched wherever he had hair. Which was, technically, everywhere on his body.
He just wanted to be home and able to rest up. Maybe get something to eat… something with a lot of protein.
