“Yeah, babe?”
“It’s about Max.”
“Er, Max? How – how do you know Max?”
“We’ve been messaging. When were you planning on introducing us?”
“Uh… honestly, I’m not sure. I hadn’t thought about it.”
“Were you thinking of.. maybe adopting him?”
“… Uh, why… why would you ask that?” Carlos started to get just a bit nervous.
“I mean.. I wouldn’t be opposed. He seems like a good kid. And he may or may not view you as a dad.” Cecil said, looking at his love.
“I mean… I … am I even really good ‘Dad’ material? I’m just being a good friend and trying to set an example for him… It’s the least I can do, right…?”
“I think you are a wonderful dad Carlos. You care for him. You want the best for him. Which makes you wonderful.”
“I thought that was being his friend… Cecil, what’ll happen if he comes to me for… ‘the talk’??”
“I don’t know… Maybe I could ask Earl? He is a dad now… but i think he sees you as a dad already”
“But being an actual dad… that’s a big step and it… I just don’t know if I’m up for it. There’s so much more than what I already am to Max and just… I might fail him.”
“Carlos you wouldn’t fail him. We don’t have to do anything now, but it is something to think about. I mean… us raising a kid together is a big step up from Khoshekh..”
“Especially one that’s already 10 years old… In the meantime though I’ll definitely be there for him. Have you… have you met him, Cecil?”
