((Okay! so – progress report:
I went into safe mode and removed some non-essential programs and some junk files in my downloads, as well as running CCleaner to get rid of cookies, temp files, and other random crap.. I also uninstalled Avast because it’s been acting really wonky whenever i tried to do a boot-scan. So with that uninstalled, I went back in, restarted Explorer.exe (the thing that runs the desktop), and let the desktop come back up. then when it did i rebooted to see if it would do it on its own. I did it twice to make sure, and it did! so now i’m reinstalling avast so hopefully it’ll be running cleanly again without any possible broken files in it.
This might not make any sense, but I’m just so happy!
I’m going to run a quick scan now on avast and see how it works. then i’ll reboot and see if the pc works.
