“That
we could possibly do. Though I think talking to you helps him. He’s
made a bond with you. And when your there he seems…. happier. Don’t stop
talking to my boy. He needs you. Now. Icecream. Wheels. Mr. Ramon it’s
been a pleasure.”Edwardo walked up and gave his card to Carlos before offering Yondu his hand. “It has been,” he said, smiling at Yondu. “Take care of those boys, and try not to get into too much trouble.”
“See you around in the sky,” Mikey responded with a grin. “Oh – do you need these translator things back?” He reached up to point to the device just below his ear.
Yondu shakes his head. “No keep them. You ever want to call or my boys want a chat you’ll be able to understand them. If they break let me know. Carlos can show you how to use the long distance comunicators. Just….. be careful not to lose them ok.” Shakes Eduardo’s hand then fist bumps Mikey as he heads out to the car.
“In the meantime, keep them hidden in your guys’ wallet or something,” Carlos suggested. “I’ll be back soon.”
“Oh, Carlos – take my phone,” Mr Ramon said. “If you need anything, call Mikey’s. Then when you get back… we’ll come up with a story for how you got found.”
Carlos nodded. “Okay, Dad.” He hugged his dad. “I’ll see you soon.” He turned and hurried out to the car with Yondu.
Yondu smiles already in the car and looks to him. “Ok carlos. Let’s go get some good bye icecream. Sure you don’t want to come with me?”
Carlos climbed into the driver’s side and pulled on his seatbelt. He looked at Yondu and sighed. “I can’t, Yondu. I was born and raised on Earth. It was my intellect that kept me afloat out in space, and even then I was still just… it was tough.” Carlos let out a breath. He gestured toward Yondu. “Seatbelt, please.”
“It was worth a try…” Puts on his seatbelt and as they pull away his ears wiggle and twitch with every sound as they come to a building that had a giant fake icecream cone on the roof. “Dairy Queen…. Huh……” once parked he gets out following carlos in keeping his hood up and covering his face. He glanced at the board of sweets. “Strawberry dipped in chocolate.”
Carlos looked at him. “Oh, that’s yummy. The dipped cones is a soft ice cream that is dipped in a candy shell that hardens from the cold. I usually like the chocolate dip on my chocolate, but the cherry dip is pretty good too. And it comes in an edible cup-like cookie which at the end is a great break-up of the cold treat you just had, I think.”
