Carlos went out into the storm with his equipment, since the weather was really interesting around Sleepy Peak Peak (what, with Spooky island and that one side of the lake always being covered in dark, foreboding clouds).

As he approached one of the locations of a lightning strike however he paused, seeing a person on the ground. Oh no – did it strike someone?

Carlos hurried over and dropped his equipment to the side to start inspecting the body for life.

“He-hello? Hello, can you hear me? Sir?”

J: he was looking out the window, glancing at the door as he heard the other knock “Oh uh.. Hey..”

Carlos smiled at him. “Hey,” he said, stepping inside. “Um, you remember me right?”

J:
he winced as he laid back, slowly closing his eyes “… I-It feels like
I’m still bleeding somewhere but Ev-Everything’s numb..”

“I might have to look around you some more,” Carlos said. “But I’m going to get this cleaned up for you so we have one less thing to worry about.” The numbness might be from bloodloss, but Carlos couldn’t be sure.

J: he groaned, covering his eyes with his free hand and mumbling “Need to hide soon..”

That got Carlos’ attention.

“Hide…?” he asked. “Hide… from what?”

J: “T-The burning bright..” he starts to tremble again

“I.. I”m afraid I don’t understand,” Carlos admitted softly. “What’s the Burning Bright?”

J: looked up at the ceiling, a few tears building as his voice got quiet “I-I can’t fight again..”

What?

“Jon, calm down. It’s okay – you’re safe. You’re going to be okay, I promise.” Maybe he was delirious. Carlos wondered if he should call an ambulance.

J: he mumbled something else about the ‘bright burning’ before finally passing out

He passed out. Not good. Carlos got up to pull his phone out of his pocket. He called for an ambulance and gave them a rundown of what the situation might be. He stayed on the phone with the dispatcher while he waited for the ambulance to show up.

Maybe ten minutes passed before the ambulance arrived, one of the paramedics started asking Carlos various questions like “What happened” “What’s his name” etc as the other got Jon ready to move

Carlos told them all he could and gave them the name. He offered them his insight and told them what he’d done to help. He debated with himself about going to the hospital too, but in the end he went with them.

Jon was rushed off to the hospital and Carlos was told to stay in the waiting room til he had woken up

Carlos did as he was told and just waited. He hoped Jon would be okay. He hoped that he hadn’t done anything to make him worse.

Maybe an hour later, a nurse told Carlos he could see Jon but that visiting hours were almost over before pointing him to the right room

Carlos wasted no time and he went to see his new fried. He knocked before peeking into the room to see if Jon was awake.

“He-hello? Hello, can you hear me? Sir?”

J: “Science… ‘m Jon..” he shifted uncomfortably “M-Mind if I pass out now..?”

“Yes, I mind very much,” Carlos said. “I need to get you somewhere safe. Camp Campbell is nearby – I can get you there to help patch you up. Stay awake, okay?”

J: he sighed softly, wincing as he sat up again “O-Okay.. But that might be hard…”

“I’ll help you. I just need you to keep talking to me.” Carlos quickly packed up what he could, deciding to leave some of his instruments near a tree to be found again later. He then reached to help Jon stand up. “Hold onto me… I’ll hold you up. Okay?”

J: he hesitates before taking the others hand, groaning softly as he got up and wrapped an arm around his waist “Wh-Where are We going..?”

“The camp,” Carlos reminded him. “It’s just a short distance away, I promise. You’re lucky you appeared where you did.”

J: he nods slightly, glancing up at him “Right.. The camp’s good… Which way..?”

“This way,” Carlos said. “Just hang onto me and try to keep moving.”
Carlos walked them to the nearest trail toward the camp. He hoped the
kids were doing an inside activity so they wouldn’t see the bloody,
definitely psychologically-scarring mess they were bringing in.

J: he partically clung to the other, limping as he moved slowly through quiet forest, wincing and mumbling under his breath

Luckily there were no kids immediately within sight. Thank God. Despite all the crap that the campers went through, Carlos still wanted to prevent problems where he could. Especially since Angie was there now as well.

Carlos led the way to the medical cabin, making a note to replace the supplies he uses in helping Jon.

J: he let out a sigh of reliefe as he sat on the bed “I-I’ll be honest.. It’s getting kinda h-hard to keep Myself out of shock.. At this point” he ran a shakey hand through his hair as he glanced around the tent

“It’s okay,” Carlos told him. “Go ahead and lay down.” Carlos gently
pushed the other person down toward the bed before grabbing a pillow and
shoving it under his feet to keep them elevated. It would help with
blood flow to the brain and help keep Jon out of shock.
