Carlos nodded to Hancock, smiling. “Oh yeah – he’s absolutely great at cooking,” he told Hancock. “He worked as a chef in his day. But he’s also a dad, so beware of Dad Jokes. Heheh!”

“I can’t help but feel like you’re tryin’ to set me up with your da, tellin’ me about all his best attributes. I do have a thing for older men.” He joked, shooting a wink over at the other man. “Y’know, you seem to be quite the catch yourself, handsome, a lot of people find intelligence extremely attractive, myself included.”

Carlos laughed. “Well, I’ll be honest, seeing him date would probably
be too weird for me. He’s been single for such a long time.”

And they were right back to talking (flirting?) about Carlos, huh?

“And
well, you know, there’s a reason I’ve been single for a while too,” he
went on. “Intelligence might be attractive, yeah… until the workaholic
inventor misses too many dates. You know, like Robin Williams in Flubber. Though I haven’t missed my own wedding, thank God.”

Carlos looked at it. “Well… there’s two options,” he said. I can solder it back in place and the connections will work as good as new. But I’d have to be creative with how to apply that since I doubt you have a soldering gun lying around… or spare solder.” Carlos set the piece down. “The other option is to wait until we can get a replacement for it. It still has some use… but in the state, it is a little dangerous and risks burning out more of the parts inside and shorting out.”

His frown deepened as he stared down at the console, considering Carlos’ words. He didn’t really want to get rid of the part, but if it was putting the rest of the terminal in danger, what other option did he have? “Well……. I don’t want it fuckin’ everything else up, What can ya do for now to make sure everythin’ else works while we figure out how to fix that?”

“I can take it out now,” Carlos said. “The rest of the terminal will work – it’ll just give you a warning letting you know that the drive isn’t attached. But if you just don’t put any holotapes in then it won’t run.”

*Sighs*. It’s… it’s because I’m not sure I’ll like it. And… what if you do? I don’t wanna deny you something that you like…

“Don’t worry about it darlin’, it really doesn’t mean that much to me to try it out, especially if it makes ya a little uncomfortable.”

Carlos still felt bad about it though. He took Hancock’s hand and brought it up to kiss his knuckles. He then leaned in and pressed a kiss to Hancock’s mouth. “I’m sorry…”

Carlos finally looked away to glance around. He spotted a clean(ish) cloth on his workbench and nodded to it. “Hand that over here so I can at least wipe off.”

Carlos’ heart was pounding. He wanted to grab Hancock and kiss the life out of him, but he didn’t want to ruin this moment by smearing grease and oil everywhere.

He nodded, reaching over to grab the cloth and hand it to him. The longer this dragged on without any real response, the harder it was for Hancock to keep himself together. He swallowed, watching Carlos uncertainly as he cleaned himself up, the suspense killing him.

Carlos quickly wiped at his face before he started to mop up the wet grease on his hand. His hands were shaking and he was trying not to appear too jittery. But with the time it was taking to clean his hands (and make sure Hancock’s beloved coat didn’t accidentally get stained) Carlos was starting to realize how it looked.

“I”m not trying to blow you off,” Carlos told Hancock quickly, still furiously wiping his hands clean. “I am legitimately worried about getting grease on your coat. Because, Han – I want you to know“ Carlos glanced down at his hands. Eh… good enough.

He tossed the rag down before grabbing Hancock’s head and pulling him in for a hard, but adoring, kiss.

Carlos made a little yelping noise in horrified shock. No! his mind screamed, as his mouth
couldn’t form the words. It’s not Hancock’s
fault! It’s not your fault!!

He hiccupped and made a soft, distressed moaning sound.
Carlos wriggled his hand out of Hancock’s grip and wrapped his arm around
himself to hug himself tightly. He wanted to run – run so that Hancock didn’t
have to look at his ugly crying face and feel bad about it. But that would
require moving, which immediately wasn’t possible. Hancock was still
practically on top of him. And in addition, Carlos was naked. He felt so
exposed and raw already — he didn’t want to try uncurling and getting up to
get his clothes on.

But he might have to. He wanted to be alone so badly.

A Holiday Surprise (closed w/ selfmedicatingmayor)

Carlos made a noise of surprise as he was pulled in. His hands came up to hold Hancock’s waist and his eyes fluttered shut as they kissed. When they broke apart, Carlos smiled at him, a little dreamily.

“I’m glad you like it,“ he said softly. He swallowed slightly. “Um, admittedly that holotape is a bit beefier than standard ones. It… it took a little bit finding the right parts to put it together. But I already had the games – my brother was a programmer and he beefed up my Pipboy for me. So… um… yeah.”

“Ah, that makes more sense.” He paused, looking down at the holotape in his hand with a warm smile, it was amazing that the other man could even wrap his head around all of this, it was all over his head.

“You’re incredible.” He breathed, smile growing wider again as he looked back into Carlos’ eyes. “Really, you’re absolutely amazing, sweetheart.”

Carlos bit his lip to keep from smiling too goofily. “I… thanks, Hancock. So are you. I wanted to make sure I got you something cool, that nobody else had… well, other than me, I guess. Something that you’d really appreciate. And you like playing the games, so… yeah.” He knew he was babbling a bit, but he couldn’t help it. He was just so relieved and happy that Hancock liked the present. He was honestly a little worried that Hancock’s not growing up with a holiday spirit would damper it. But it seemed like everything was alright.
