Carlos went out into the storm with his equipment, since the weather was really interesting around Sleepy Peak Peak (what, with Spooky island and that one side of the lake always being covered in dark, foreboding clouds).

As he approached one of the locations of a lightning strike however he paused, seeing a person on the ground. Oh no – did it strike someone?

Carlos hurried over and dropped his equipment to the side to start inspecting the body for life.

“He-hello? Hello, can you hear me? Sir?”

J: “Have You learned anything about.. Strange entities? Like demons and such..?”

Carlos was quiet for a moment. “Well, I do know that they exist here. I know that some of the kids have seen… creatures around. What exactly they are or why they’re here, I’m not sure. I think it has something to do with how permeable the inter-dimensional barriers are in this part of the universe. It’s easy for all kinds of things to slip through.” Carlos offered a slight smile. “I mean… you’re here, after all.”

J: “It’d be in Your best interest to not tell anyone about the demons here, Or creatures the kids see, You could put alot of lives at risk if word got out to the wrong people” he looked serious, and borderline upset

Carlos lifted an eyebrow at him. “Oh yeah? How so?” he asked.

J: he rubbed the back of his neck, maybe it would be better to tell him ?

Carlos frowned. “Look… if it’s something dangerous and important… I can handle it. I live in Night Vale – one of the most dangerous places I’ve ever been in.”

J: he sighed softly “There are .. Hunters for things like Me, They’re ruthless and won’t stop at anything to make sure every last Demon, Entity or other is six feet under.. They don’t care who they have to kill to do it” he glanced away “So if word got out, Everyone at that camp is in serious danger”

Carlos watched him. “Really?” he asked. “Do you think… they’d harm children?” Angela was at the camp. If something tried to hurt her or if she somehow got in the middle of this whole mess…

J: “I personally haven’t seen them do anything like that, But I have have heard more then My fair share of horror stories..” he forced a chuckle “And they think their ridding the world evil by killing us off instead of doing something to actually get rid of the dark in this world..”

Carlos nodded. “So, uh, just to confirm to me… you’re not human? Like, I know you have a tail, but I’ve seen weird things in Night Vale. Like two-headed children.”

J: he blinked “I’m.. Demon, I kinda thought You figured that out” he chuckled slightly

“I was beginning to surmise, especially when you said ‘us’ and ‘we’,” Carlos said. “But I wanted to be clear about it.”

“yeah, that’s me,” Carlos said. “And that’s alright. You… they told me you lost a lot of blood. SO no wonder you were out of it.”

J: he chuckled “Yeah, I can’t even remember if I said anything or not.. Did I..?”

“Well, yeah,” Carlos said. Maybe it’d help give him clues on what happened to the other man if he mentioned it. “You said something about the ‘brightness’ or… Gosh, now I can’t remember. But you said something was bright or something? You said you needed to hide from it?”

J: “Brightness..?” he mumbled as he thought, looking abit concerned “Where did You kind Me again?

“In the forest,” Carlos said. “There was a lightning storm and I was out getting readings when I found you.”

J: he curled his tail around himself “How long did the lightening storm last?”

“Not very long,” Carlos admitted. “I barely had my equipment together to start taking readings before it began to clear up. I found you only a few minutes after setting out.”

J: “Equipment? Are You a Meteorologist or something? I honestly thought You were some kind of doctor..

“Well, I’m a scientist,” Carlos said with a proud smile. “I study anything scientifically interesting.”

J: “Scientist huh? My friend wanted to be one..” he glanced away “.. Do You remember anything else..?”

“Well, you were severely wounded,” Carlos said. “You kept saying you wanted to hide before you passed out. You know, that question is really something someone in my position would be asking you. I mean, if you remember anything.”

J: he chuckles slightly, running a hand through his hair “Yeah.. I just to cover My bases is all, You never know what’s out there..” he glanced at the window again

“Exactly why I’m here,” Carlos said. “To find out what’s going on in Sleepy Peak. But that’s beside the point.”

J: “Huh.. So tell Me scientist, What have You learned so far?”

Carlos frowned. “About the storm? Nothing – I had to leave my equipment behind to help you out. Oh, do you mean in general? Because I’ve learned a lot. But gained a lot more questions too.”
