As the summer days rolled by, a full moon crept closer and closer. Thankfully, the woods surrounding the camp were large and caves were scatted everywhere, maybe Carlos could wait this out in a cave? all he had to do was find one and hope some other animal didn’t make its home there, right? -(the worse starter maker) L

Carlos wandered through the forest. He knew he’d seen a cave somewhere – it looked like an old bear cave, though he hadn’t gone in it before. He wanted to be as far away from his camp and the summer camps, in case the children had an idea to wander around at night to hunt for snipes. The full moon would make visibility perfect for it, so it was a reasonable concern in Carlos’ mind.

He finally came across the cave he was looking for. And not too soon either – the moon would rise probably within the next ten minutes. Carlos ventured forth, holding his flashlight up to search the inside of the cave. Hopefully it was empty. Could a werewolf beat a bear? Maybe?

“Well, This Technically Isn’t My First Time Being Human” he chuckles, walking along the trail

“It isn’t?” Carlos asked curiously as he walked along side him.

“Oh, Okay Then, I Guess..” he glanced away, unsure what to say

Carlos felt a little bad about it – he didn’t want to be seem pushy, but there were some things he just didn’t want to see. Then, of course, there were the children in the camps surrounding the area. THe police really didn’t need to be called.

“Hey… you hungry? We can head back to my tent and get something to eat. I’ve got some food.”

he smiled, wings twitching slightly “Sure! I haven’t since last night..” he got up, almost forgetting about the coat

Carlos got up after him, grabbing the coat. He hastily tied it around Drake’s waist into sort of a poor tunic-type thing. “I can offer you some shorts and a shirt too. It’ll be a bit more comfortable and… socially acceptable than this.”

“Clothes Are Annoying..” he muttered, glancing away as Carlos tied the coat around his waist

Carlos nodded. “They can be,” he admitted. Some shorts would be easier to wear than this though, I promise.”

he tilts his head “What Are Shorts?”

“It’s a thing that goes over your bottom. And it’ll stay up on its own.” Carlos stuck his feet into his shoes and knelt down to lace them up.

“Are All Human Rules Like These..?” he wrapped his wings around himself as he watched the other tie his shoes

“Like what exactly?” Carlos asked, looking up at Drake.

“All These ‘Clothes’ And Such..”

“Uh, yeah. There’s a lot of rules, but following them will help keep you out of trouble with humans, I promise.” He finished with his shoes and stood up again.

“I Can Take A Few Humans If They’re Trying Up Trouble” his wings twitched again

“It’s probably best not to try,” Carlos warned him. “Anyway, come on – let’s get some breakfast.”

he nods, walking over to the opening of the cave before waiting for Carlos

Carlos followed after him, giving Drake a slight look. “You do pretty well on two legs,” he said.

~~ CARLOS ~~

Carlos looked up as the young woman approached. What was her name? Viola? They’d introduced themselves, but he was terrible with names. Also, did she approach him that loudly on purpose?

“Uh, well… yeah,” Carlos started to say. But he decided he should probably tell the truth. “Um, well… I’m feeling kind of… off. I need to turn in so… hopefully I can just sleep whatever it is off. You shouldn’t worry about me – I’m fine.” He offered her a slight smile, which he hoped would ease her mind

                                                Her mind was not eased.

Violet lets out a breathy sigh, rolling her eyes,  I used ‘ta work with my dad in a clinic, Carlos. I know things, so maybe I could ‘elp, yeah?  she smiles, OrI could not leave ‘till ya tell me what exactly is wrong. S’yer choice.

She’d seen many people die of sicknesses in the wastes – starting minor, sure, but then the irradiated landscape makes things worse until they ghoulify or die of sickness. She’d never seen it happen herself, and she didn’t plan to.

@the-perfect-scientist

Carlos huffed out a sigh, though it was not meant to sound as annoyed as it did. “I… don’t know what it is,” he said honestly. “I just… I’m just not feeling well. I don’t know if it’s food poisoning or what…” He felt exhausted, but still his nerves seemed to crawl under his skin and he just needed to lay down. Get some sleep. Take the time to unwind, maybe…

That moon seemed so bright. And irritating.

“I just want to go lay down, okay? It’ll probably be better in the morning.”
