this man

has gone through

so much

and lost

so many people

and yet

behind all that pain

there’s a man

who has flaws

who has made bad decisions

but who’s still able to love

and help

and father

and care

and save

because he is tony stark

the man who gives everyone the things he never had

and he is our hero

[MSG:] I vaguely recall putting a toaster in the freezer. -Carlos

[MSG:]  That’s okay.  I loved it, so I put frozen toaster struddles from the nearest grocery store next to it!

[MSG:] Lol I guess so? I think I might have had it confused with the Xbox 360. lol

[MSG:] Why would you put an Xbox 360 in the freezer?😱  There wouldn’t be anything else in there that was compatible.

[MSG:] Because the Xbox is silly and thinks it’s overheating. It wasn’t one of Microsoft’s finest pieces of equipment. lol

”Glad to know I could make your day better, what’s your name?” Tony gives a faint smile, he still cant quite BELIEVE that Carlos had said such nice words to him. “Don’t mention it, it’s what I do yuh know?” A small smile falls past his lips as he glances down for a brief moment looking up ever so slightly now at Carlos.

“I’ll be seeing you around more often, yeah?” There’s a HOPEFUL gleam in Tony’s eyes, having some one who would VALIDATE him was rare and much needed. “Or at least I hope so, it’s not everyday I get some one like you round here.” Tony chuckles.

Carlos was surprised by the request for his name. “Uh, it’s… it’s Carlos,” he said. He carefully chose not to tell his last name – he didn’t know if Stark would, but if the man happened to decide to look him up and see Carlos’ history then Stark might not be as appreciative of Carlos’ sentiments. “And, uh, I certainly hope that I made yours. Your day better, I mean.”

Carlos then shrugged. “You might see me around… but honestly, I’m working trying to…” No, no, wait – don’t tell him you’re looking for a job. “I’m, um, saving money so that I can head back home sometime.” Soon, hopefully.

“Unless you’re here to sell Girl Scout Cookies I don’t wanna hear it.”

“A-ah… I guess I should’ve dusted of that uniform after all,” Carlos joked, grinning despite the near-trip in the beginning. He then cleared his throat. “Um, sorry, Mr Stark. I just wanted to say that I appreciate all the good you’re doing in the world. So… thank you.”

Tony turned to look at the other, a smirk tugging at his features when Carlos had made the uniform comment. Waving off the compliment now Tony gave a small sigh, “no need to thank me for doing what any decent human being would do. That’s the whole point of being the man in the suit isn’t it? Save people? Bring justice where it’s needed to be?”

Carlos chuckled, though it sounded more disbelieving than he meant it. “No, Mr Stark, sir, not… not just with the Iron Man,” Carlos went on. “I was… I was regarding your business practices also. Just… I mean, I’ve seen how easy it is for a tech tycoon to just absolutely go nuts for… I guess ‘glory’ is the term I’m looking for. Really… I think you’re one of the greatest examples of a business and humanitarian figure that the world could ask for.”

Tony had never really been APPRAISED as himself before, not for the good deeds he had done at least. Sure people had congratulated the genius on all of his SUCCESS but never for his EMPATHY. Tony takes a moment to react partially because he is taken back by the others comment and isn’t quite sure what to say just yet. “Thank you, you know you’re the only one besides Pepper and Pete that has told me that?”

Carlos blinked at him, a little surprised. He couldn’t have been the only person to think that (aside from Stark’s CEO and this ‘Pete’ person). He found it hard to believe. “Well, y-you’re welcome, Mr Stark,” Carlos told him with a smile. Being thanked by Tony Stark for something really did something to his insides, which he wasn’t going to mention of course. “And… thank you for hearing what I wanted to say, Mr Stark. I’m never going to forget this.” That last part was mostly to himself. After what happened with Hammer Industries, Carlos would never have thought he’d get the chance to even speak to Tony Stark. But it happened, and Carlos was so, so lucky for it.
