“Well…
I haven’t been screamed at yet….. must be because I’m blue.” Grins at
carlos and follows him to the main room checking all the windows we’re
covered good only then taking a seat and taking the hood off again but
he stayed on edge his arrow bared and a whistle waiting on his lips if
he needed it. He glanced at the two Terrans. “So…. carlos yer boy… he’s…
well…..he’s ok…. nothing wrong with him…. found him on a space colony
m-Marvin. Little shit hole of s place….. but we was lucky he was there.
Pretty sure we’d have been like my dead without him.” Smiles at carlos.
“I.. made him a deal. Fix my ship…. I bring ya home. I keep ma
promises.”

“He was at a space colony?” Mikey asked. “For nearly a year?”

“How did it all happen?” Mr Ramon asked Carlos. “You were
telling me that Hammertech was failing and you lost your job, and then… you
stopped returning my calls. I sent emails and I called your landlord and the
police and…”

“I know, Dad – I know, I know,” Carlos said quickly. “But…
well, I was abducted.” Carlos sighed and started to tell the story. About the
Xandarians, the Nova Corps, and then getting abducted again.

“Again??” Mr Ramon exclaimed. “What is it about humans that makes people want to take them??”

“Wellllll to be honest slaves that won’t talk back. Whatcwith ya all not being space faring save the occasional few it’s like a good stock of slaves….. my species were much the same ya see….. we were a lot like Terrans…. until we were all snatched up…… but Terrans are still to squishy to be used as battle slaves and such. Haven’t evolved enough to be deemed dangerous and useful…… dangerous….. only to soloists…. but against a large group? No. Our smallest little space rat could take a terran out no joke. But every now and then there’s someone out there that gets a itch for Terrans they need ya scratch and there ya go…. now… just ya be clear… I didn’t avduct ya. My moron boys did. But… don’t see ya complaining now carlos.” Grins at him.

Mr Ramon just seemed concerned.

“The Xandarians that got me were just having fun – they weren’t
looking for a slave,” Carlos said quickly. “Yondu’s guys – Kraglin and Peter –
they were looking for an engineer. They were in a bad spot and they needed
someone who could fix their engines, and they thought that person could be me.”

“They were right of course,” Mikey quipped with a grin. “You
were one of Hammer’s best engineers so they got lucky!”

“Peter… that’s a human name,” Mr Ramon said with a slight
frown.

Carlos blinked. He looked at Yondu, wondering if he wanted
to explain that.

“Peters my son. Adopted of course terran… mama died…and well… I knew her….. so I took the boy under my wing. One of the best crew I got but my boy first and foremost…..” he peeks out the shades to check the darkness and if light was starting to show. He was edgy worried. Even scared.

Carlos looked to Yondu. He took his arm and gave it a gentle
squeeze, hoping to calm him down a bit.

“You adopted a human child?” Mr Ramon asked him.

“Yeah,” Carlos said. “Peter’s a great kid – he grew up in
space so he’s well-adapted.”

Yondu nods then his ears twitch and he sees the flashing lights and sirens and in a blur he was up and zipping down the hall and trying to crawl under the bed as quick as he could.

Mikey and Mr Ramon were shocked when Yondu bolted. Carlos got
up and ran right after him. “Yondu! Yondu, it’s okay!” Carlos called after him.

Yondu had gone to Mr Ramon’s room and Carlos knelt right
beside the blue man. “Yondu, that was just an ambulance – a medical car.
Someone probably just got in a car accident. It’s not for us, Yondu, I promise.”

Yondu peeks out the window arrow glowing feircly fin glowing red eyes searching the dark roads for any sign. His ears twitching and flicking before he relaxed and looks to him and sighs.

Mikey rolled to the door and peeked in, as he was able to
get there faster than his dad. “Carlos? Everything okay?”

“We’re fine,” Carlos told him. He put a hand on Yondu’s
cheek and rubbed his thumb into the cheekbone, trying to help calm him. “It’s
okay, Yondu… nobody knows you’re here.” He then took the blue alien’s hands and
stood up, tugging to help pull him up.

Follows him to standing looking around the room curiously then back to carlos. “I’m good… that.. Uhh siren just…were taught to fear those sounds…..and lights…”

“I get it,” Carlos said with a nod. “Come on…” He hooked his
elbow with Yondu’s and started to lead him back out to the main room.

Mikey turned his chair and wheeled ahead of them. Mr Ramon
was standing in at his chair, completely confused, but sat back down as Carlos
and Yondu approached.

“Is… everything alright?” he asked carefully.

“Yondu was a Kree battle-slave when he was younger,” Carlos
explained. “He’s very fearful of getting captured again by anyone.” Normally
Carlos wouldn’t have said something like this to anyone about Yondu, but… this
was his family. He just found himself willing to tell them anything they wanted
to know.

Yondu
smiles watching the scene as another came to the door rolling in a
wheel chair and pushed over to try and get to carlos as well. He just
stood in the shadows as they held on to each other sniffles audible from
the random words of the two. He didn’t want to ruin the reunion just
staying silent and patient.

Carlos was forced to move into the house a little bit so his
brother could get a hold of him. He felt a little disassociated at the moment.
It was so surreal to him – he was home. He was home!

After a while his Dad finally pulled away. There were tears
in his eyes and he was grinning at Carlos so widely. “Carlos – come inside!
Come inside!”

“Yeah… yeah, sure, Dad,” Carlos said. “Oh, um, I brought
someone…” He turned to look back at Yondu, who was standing just far away
enough for his skin color not to be seen.

Yondu looks up but kept hidden so as not to scare the two Terrans. “Hey….. “ Yondu nods to them when they turn to see him.

Mikey smiles and rolls back in the house. “Both if you can come in. Yondu follows them inside as they are ushered into the main room to talk. He didn’t remove his hood and kept his hands in his pockets after pulling the hood far enough over his face to hide. It didn’t take long for them to start asking him who he was and why he had his hood up in the rather warm home. He turned to carlos ducking his head when they tried to get a look at him.

Carlos looks at Yondu before looking at his family. “Um, Dad…
Mikey… I need you to keep an open mind… okay?”

Mikey was confused, but Mr Ramon was a tad worried. “I…
alright, son. But explain to us where you’ve been all this time.”

“I will, I will, promise,” Carlos told him. He took a
breath. “Dad, Mikey… this is Yondu Udonta. He’s… he’s an alien.” Carlos reached
to take Yondu’s arm, giving it a squeeze to prompt him to look up.

Yondu glanced around quickly to see if the blinds were all shut and that no one out side could see him then pulls down the hood looking at the two humans. “They won’t be able to understand me without communicators…” pulls out two.

Carlos looked to see what Yondu was holding and he nodded. “Oh,
right… duh.”

“What do you mean he’s an alien, Carlos?” Mr Ramon asked
slowly, obviously not entirely sure what was happening was real. “I had thought
all the aliens had left since what the Avengers did in New York.”

“They did,” Carlos said quickly. “Or, at least those ones did.”

“What did he just say to you?” Mikey asked. “What are those
he handed you?”

“They – they’re removable translators,” Carlos said. “He’s
speaking Kree right now, and of course people here don’t understand Kree.
Honestly I still don’t understand it…”

“Then how does he talk to you if you can’t understand it?”
Mr Ramon asked. “What do you mean ‘translators’ – what do they do?”

Carlos huffed. “Look, can – can we just all go sit down?” he
asked, feeling awkward and put on the spot. “I promise, I’ll start explaining
everything just… as soon as you guys meet Yondu, okay? Dad, here –let me just
put this on.”

Carlos gestured for his dad to come forward and though he
was a bit hesitant, the older man did step a bit closer. Carlos smiled at him
and carefully put the device in place, just in front of his ear. “Here, Mikey,”
Carlos said, doing the same for his brother who helpfully rolled closer to him.

Waves. “Names Yondu Udonta. Captain of the ravager crew of the eclector. Picked up her boy here on a shitty little colony ya fix up mah ship in exchange for a ride home. Now he’s home. Though I’d like ya keep him personally.”

“Oh my Goodness – you’re speaking Spanish!” Mr Ramon
exclaimed. “Why do you have a Chihuahuan accent?”

“Dad, I’m hearing English too,” Mikey said. “Wait… what did you
say about keeping Carlos?” he then asked, looking at Yondu.

“Hey, guys, come on… gimme a second and I’ll explain
everything,” Carlos said. He looked at his dad and noticed the cane he had. His
dad had a tight grip on it and he looked like he was trembling a bit. “Um, Dad?
Can we, uh… go and sit down maybe for this?”

Mr Ramon blinked at them. But then he realized that they
were indeed still in the front room. “Oh! Oh, yes, come on in you two! Yondu,
come in – make yourself at home.”

Carlos looked at Yondu with a slight smile. He reached to
gently grip his wrist and pull him in to follow.
