My Fingers Slipped @partyplanningforsuckers The heat only seemed to be packed in at the circus, with the hundreds of citizens that had swarmed like ants and the intense rides that seemed to have a life of their own. The smell of sugary cotton candy and popcorn was enough to lure anyone who had just come from a days work, the circus was the place to be. So
with that, the other gave a smile and went off to give a lengthy call
to the man he had meant to cancel plans with. He couldn’t have felt
cheaper as he called in and tapped his foot against the wall, he blushed
in embarrassment as he did so. Watching the other scientists made him
hungry just thinking about dinner.

Carlos went to his meeting with the Literal Rock Band and they discussed, among other things, the band’s habit of eating on stage. He wasn’t sure how they managed it, but chicken bones and soda cans would be left on the stage by them and the hosts at the theaters weren’t very happy about it. If they wanted to keep going with their gigs, they needed to clean up their act. Literally. They were young rocks, but Carlos thought that he was getting through to them.

It was an unestablished time that Skip began to grow lonely and hungry, adding up to be a dangerous vampire. Neurally, he headed towards a bundle of scientists and perked up. “Hi! My name’s Skip! May I ask for one of your hands?” He asked the group, glancing around.

One of the scientists didn’t even look up as they were so engrossed with their current analysis. But a the other scientists glanced at Skip with a confused look. “Um… why?” asked one of the scientists. “Do you need something?”

“I thought the show wasn’t until later,” a different scientist asked.

“Sure it is, but I’m sure you’ve all heard of a warm up.” Skip had heard of scientists being dorks, but he hadn’t heard of them being so unwilling and possibly stuck up. “I can’t exactly do this on myself,”

“Oh, I can help!” a smaller scientist with purple hair exclaimed. They quickly bagged up their samples and tried to yank off their gloves, though they struggled with one of them since they were going so fast. “Sorry – gimme a second!”

“Lore, make sure you wash and change your coat,” one of the other scientists told them. “You don’t want to accidentally contaminate him with… um…”

“With my samples from the
B͡r̶o҉w҉n ̵S̨ton̨e Spi͏r͝ȩ

, got it!” Lore said and they rushed off to the wash station

Skip watched them go off with their bit of excitement, he was too was eager about his warm up but was also rather inspired by their energy.

This made him hungrier.

Lore took off their labcoat and threw it in the hamper for decontamination and washed their hands and face, practically buzzing with energy. They were really excited to see the hypnotism show later, so of course they jumped at the chance to help.

After their hands were washed, Lore took a fresh lab coat from the closet and put it on. They pat their poofy hair (Poof!) and came back with a wide smile on their face.

Skip smiled back and held his hand out for them to take, his voice soft and coaxing like any good vampire would do. “Any part of your body will do, this should be pretty cool for you huh? You look excited, don’t worry I won’t make you do anything awful..”

Carlos hadn’t been to a circus in years – not since he was little. But there had been a raffle at work and Carlos had won a coupon for a free ticket. He kinda hoped that his brother and/or his dad were in town so he could invite them to go with him.

Carlos made his way to the ticket office that was set up, standing in the line with his coupon as he looked at everything around him. Some things were different than what he remembered or imagined a circus to be like, but not everything could be a dated cliche trope he supposed.

Once at the ticket office he smiled and offered the coupon. “Hey… this any good?” he asked in a joking manner.

shook his head firmly and set down the empty packet, sucking briefly on

to.. help.”

Carlos just nodded, sort of understanding what Skip was saying. “After I get notes on your hypnotism process today, you and I can talk about what can be done. I’ll need to know what sort of things affect you, like if a certain actual food might curb the craving or something. This’ll be a challenge, but you have my word as a scientist that I’ll work on this and figure out how to help you.” He smiled at the vampire, open and friendly and willing to help.

“A-Are you sure you really want to help me like this..? Don’t you think you might be discouraged if you don’t find a solution, or are you.. always going to keep trying-“ He paused and shook his head, “Not that- not that you need to devote all your time to me..”

“Yes, I’m sure,” Carlos told him. “I’m a scientist, and we don’t give up on the unknown easily.”

He nodded then and sighed to smile over his cheeks, “So! Is there something set up out in town, or how exactly are we performing this whole thing?”

“Well, since the show is for scientific purposes, I think we can set up a mock-stage in the lab here,” Carlos said. “We have presentations all the time so we’re already pretty well equipped for that sort of thing.”

“Oh, okay! Well then, when is it exactly?” He prepped curiously, watching the other scientists begin to disperse, “Id like to be able to prepare, if you don’t mind..”

“Well, it’s impossible to be exact, especially in Night Vale,” Carlos said. “But you heard us – we were thinking about later today. It’s totally up to you though – how much time would you like?”

“Just an hour or so really, I just need to clear my mind and get set what I want to do with your men so I don’t get off task,” He explained softly, moving his eyes back to Carlos. “That okay?”

“Scientists,” Carlos corrected gently with a smile. “Not all of them are men, you know. But yeah, absolutely – we’ll be here all day so take your time.”

“Oh- sorry, I didn’t mean any disrespect..” He said quickly, reaching forward and taking Carlos’ arm gently to get his point noticed. “I know there are women and other genders here, I just generalized to make it easier. I’m sorry if I offended you.”

“You’re okay,” Carlos assured him. “I appreciate you clarifying for me too.”

He shook his head, sighing as he cleared his mind and returned to the issue at hand. “So.. Later today..? Just any time? Because I was thinking maybe around four o’clock, just so I can eat and then come back.”

“Well, time doesn’t work like it’s supposed to in Night Vale,” Carlos reminded Skip. “But certainly, try your best. We’ll be seeing you around then.” He offered Skip a smile.

He
shook his head firmly and set down the empty packet, sucking briefly on
his fangs before answering. “No.. I usually have many young men with me
to..
