I haven’t done an update on Net Neutrality in a while as I was trying to find a reasonable “next step”, especially since it’s been out of the “news cycle” for a bit. Well, I have some good news.
According to the senator (minority leader Chuck Schumer) from New York, they now have a total of 50 votes for a Senate resolution of disapproval that would restore the Open Internet Order of 2015 and deliver a stiff rebuke to Ajit Pai and other Republican members of the FCC. It would also prevent the agency from passing a similar measure in the future, all but guaranteeing Net Neutrality is permanently preserved
What’s stopping them now? They need just ONE more Republican and they have less than 30 days to do it.
So goes the next actionable step. You have to contact your senators and get them to suppose the Congressional Review of “the Open Internet Order of 2015″.

Now, if you got a Democratic Senator, push them on to find that one Republican Senator. If you got a Republican Senator, encourage them to reconsider their stance on Net Neutrality.
We just need ONE Republican Senator and we have less than 30 days to do so.

Ajit Pai killed Net Neutrality. You’ll start seeing the effects you were warned about on April 23rd. Oh, and he apparently got an award for Courage from the NRA gun nuts, too.
You can still help by calling your senators and representatives. We just need ONE MORE PERSON on our side to get the senate portion of Congress to overrule the FCC’s decision to kill net neutrality. The battle for the net won’t end there, but it’s a start. Go to battleforthenet to find out who your reps are and where they stand, and CONTACT THEM.
Twenty-three states are also suing the FCC for this. I haven’t looked into it yet, but I assume big businesses like Google and Amazon are as well. Nevertheless, we can’t rely on lengthy lawsuits alone. The changes to your internet start in less than two months. We don’t have a whole lot of time.
Blow this up. Contact your reps. Please, do something! We HAVE to get the decision overruled!

But scrolling down on the page there’s also a section where your senators in your state (you can select from the bar) are listed and a tweet link is available with another prepared statement to give them. I advise to personalize these a little so they don’t look like spam and they don’t go ignored (Utah is all red at this point RRRRGGGGG!!!)

I was fooled into this kind of stuff when I was a kid – pedophile support groups posing as LGBT resources. They weasel their “boylove” and “girllove” topics into LGBT spaces to intentionally deceive questioning youth into accepting their predatory bullshit.
It’s had long-lasting effects on my perceptions of sex and relationships. I don’t want any kid to ever go through anything like that, or worse.
It’s an adult responsibility to keep children safe online. Report these blogs when you find them, and if you suspect illegal activity, report that to authorities or websites like CyberTip.

So I’ve used the Parent’s Choice brand wipes and diapers on my son before, they literally melted his skin off. After about 2 minutes after contact, his skin turned red hot and started blistering. We were able to get an emergency visit with his pediatrician, but he still has scars where the wipes and diapers burned him over 2 years later. This brand is AWFUL. How it’s still on the market? I have no fucking clue, but do not EVER EVER EVER gift these to someone with a newborn or small infant. The wipes actually have alcohol in them (I tried using the leftover wipes on my own ass and ended up with a nasty rash).
Err on the side of caution and go with a smaller pack of pampers or huggies, or even get a cheap starter set of cloth diapers (ToysRUs sells a small econo pack for $15), but DO NOT use these diapers. There’s no worse feeling than seeing those scars and knowing you inadvertently caused them by making a careless purchase.

Basically this does not seem to be directly linked to diapers of any particular brand, and this could happen no matter what brand you use. Unfortunately, it may not be so simple as dropping one brand for another, as people have associated this complaint with Huggies, Parent’s Choice, and Pampers–basically every diaper manufacturer there is.

Remember kids: Student walk-outs and sit-in protests are incredibly effective, because it means that the system is breaking down. Their authority only goes as far as you let it.
Don’t bring weapons to protests.
Don’t bring mace or tear gas to protests.
Get bottled water, at least six bottles per person for four hours.
Pack a first aid kit. Ace bandages, band-aids, water, dried gatorade (a scoop in a bottle of water helps prevent heat stroke due to dehydration), and sunscreen.
Keep emergency contacts on all cell phones, and if possible appoint someone in the group to be the designated emergency contact caller. Their job, if shit goes south, is to run to safety and call parents, call friends, call help, not just the police.
Don’t be afraid of Juvie. Your record is expunged at 18, if the crime isn’t something like murder.

If for any reason you are (god forbid) taken to a police station, put in a police car, or are in any other way taken into police custody and/or being questioned by police: DO NOT TALK TO THEM WITHOUT A PARENT/LEGAL GUARDIAN AND/OR ATTORNEY/ADVOCATE PRESENT!!!
If you are a minor, which I am assuming many of you will be, they should not be questioning you with out a legal guardian or attorney present in the first place. If you are not a minor, you still have the right to have an attorney present so PLEASE take advantage of that right.
Tell any officers trying to talk to you, calmly and firmly, that you are not answering any questions under any circumstances “until you have a lawyer or legal guardian with you in the room.” Repeat this as many times as you have to, as many times as it takes. And wait to say anything or answer any questions until your guardian or attorney is PRESENT. Not when “they’re on their way”, not if the police tell you “your mom said it was ok,” not “while we are waiting for them to pick up the phone.” NOT UNTIL THEY ARE PRESENT!!!Write it down on your hand or an index card if you have to so that you don’t forget: “I will not answer any questions or speak to anyone until I have a legal guardian or attorney present in the room with me.”
Police officers have a lot of leeway in these situations. They are allowed to lie to you or use other strategies to try and get you to talk to them without anyone else around. No matter how young you are or how “minor” the police are claiming your indiscretion may be, you still have rights and the police are legally obligated to respect them.
Please don’t let yourself be talked into a corner you can’t get out of!
