Nods to him smiling at him his ears giving another little flick.

Carlos glanced at the ears and smiled very
slightly. “You doing that on purpose?” he asked.

Blinks ears flicking up then back down. “Doing what?” One ear flicks.

“Your ears… they keep twitching,” Carlos told
him.

“Oh…. Yeah.. they uhh… it’s like.. ummm.. think of a cats… or something…..”

Carlos nodded. “Yeah, I see,” he said. “It’s…
interesting. Humans can’t do that. Though… I guess you know that.”

Nods and smiles. “we all have our own things. Even you. You wrinkle your nose when your thinking hard.”

Carlos sat up slightly, surprised. “I do?” he
asked. He tried to think. He… he supposed he did. He couldn’t recall a specific
time though… but he didn’t disbelieve the Captain.

“Hmmmm
you know… I never thought of that. I haven’t had time to… catalogue
them….. you know they have a app for that… I should use it. But you know
even if I had more then one I would still keep it…. There part of my
collection… so…. “

“But getting that application might help keep
you from getting doubles in the future,” Carlos suggested. “And really, you’re
not the only one in the universe. My dad likes chickens, for some reason. It’s,
uh… it’s a farm-bird. He has them decorating his kitchen back home.”

“Your… father has live chickens decorating his walls at home? Is this a… Terran thing?”

“What? No, no, not live chickens. I meant like
– well, like you. He’s got chicken figures in the window sill, some macramé art, matching dish towels and
dishes… that sort of stuff.” Carlos pursed his lips together, thinking. “Though,
yeah… some Terrans do taxidermy animals and decorate their homes with them. It’s…
weird.”

“Oh…. well that makes more sense…. but yeah… it’s what I collect. Ummmm I got a few special ones as gifts from my boys.”

Carlos smiled. “Oh, that’s sweet,” he said
without really thinking about it. He suddenly remembered where they were and
looked around, wondering if anyone heard him. “I – I’m sorry, Captain, but…
yeah, I really do think that. I shouldn’t have said so aloud though.”

“It’s fine… the only crew here are my inner circle. The few I can trust…. your fine.”

Carlos looked around again, but nodded
sheepishly at Yondu. “Right… I’m sorry, still. I’ll be more careful.”

“Weapons
huh… you can always take a look at ours…… here…” Whistles and his arrow
flies around Carlos a bit then settles infront of him.

Carlos blinked at him, and then looked down at
the arrow, almost a little afraid. “I, uh… I don’t think here’s a good place.
We’re still eating, after all…”

He also probably shouldn’t be looking at alien
weapons of all things. If the government somehow figured out he was abducted
when he got home…

God, that was another thing. Aliens existed,
obviously. Were the MIB or somebody going to come after him?

“Hmmmm.” Whistles and the arrow returns to his holster. “You have any questions for me?”

Carlos thought about it. “Well… what about
you? What are your hobbies? I saw that you like little figures.” He offered
Yondu a smile at that.

Blinks and nods. “I like little cute things…. or the odd. That’s kinda my hobby to always find something new….. I have four rooms on this ship dedicated to my trinkets…”

Carlos was unable to stop the laugh coming
from his mouth. “Four rooms?” he
asked. “That… that takes some dedication.”

“Yeah… well… I like em…. there… cute…. and … I dunno…. Kraglin says I’m a hoarder……. I just…. need them you know…”

Carlos smiled slightly.  He wasn’t going to suggest that Yondu was
using the toys to cope, right there in the mess hall – Carlos had no idea how
much about Yondu everyone knew. And considering some of this crew, they
probably didn’t know too much about Yondu’s personal life.

“You ever think that you might have
accidentally gotten more than one of something?” he asked, trying to be a
little funny. “Like, maybe you have two of the same toy dog or something?”
