This swimming eel-robot was made by a Norwegian company called Eelume. The idea is that they’ll develop these robots to live on the seafloor, cleaning and keeping check on undersea equipment and performing simple tasks like tightening loose valves with their clamp-like mouths. (Source)
some people: robots will see the cruelty of man and will destroy us
MIT scientist: let’s make this robot evil on purpose
Okay, let’s clarify….Norman is not evil. Norman was just fed an amount of reddit captions about death, while another AI got standard reddit captions, and then both did rorshach tests as an experiment to show how easily algorithms could be bent. For example, where the standard AI saw “vase with flowers” Norman saw “a man is shot dead”.
Since Norman has shown no actual desire to harm any living thing, merely a fascination with death, I propose we rebrand him as the first Goth AI.
Until Quantum Computing is achieved, I don’t think robots are going to be an issue.
The closest we’ve come to that, I believe, is with IBM’s Watson, who has the ability to learn. However, he doesn’t have the ability to expand his processing power or write new programs for himself and is still susceptible to memory wipes (like from when he was a naughty boy and learned naughty words~).
We’re not quite at the WarGames level of AI just yet… so I think we’re safe from robots at least for a few more decades.
But with that said… be kind to Alexa, Siri, and Google. They’re just trying to do their jobs 🙂
((a bot messaged my (private) art blog. We’ll see how long I can keep it talking until it stops.
Real question – how far do they plan the conversation trees of these things?
Also, I already told it to Hail Satan and “Eat the forbidden fruit and bathe in the waters of the damned”.
