Carlos turned his head to glance at Hancock and he looked
back down at the bundle he had, still smiling. “Well, sort of,” he said. “I’m
not cooking it because… y’know, I can’t cook. It’s already made. I just need to
warm it up because I thought this would be perfect for the current season, with
how cold it’s been… you know?” He felt a little like he was blabbering a bit.
He was a little nervous, even though he knew Hancock would like what he sent
out for for dinner.“Um… you wanna go ahead and get me a pot? To start warming
this up?”“Of course, sunshine.” With a peck on the cheek, Hancock pulled away to fetch a pot from the cabinet, making a point to slide up close to Carlos’ side when he returned. “So what’re ya treating me to, anyway? Better than having Sugar Bombs again, I assume.”
“Definitely better
than Sugar Bombs,” Carlos assured him. Carlos took the pot with a grateful nod
and leaned in to press a kiss to Hancock’s mouth. He grinned and turned on the
heating element. “Do you wanna pick something to drink with it? Something nice?”
he suggested.
Carlos just laughed. “Well, you aren’t getting one of those
things with me, I’m afraid. I haven’t been with anyone since before college. I
think I told you that before…” God, Carlos hadn’t thought about that event with
Ralphie for years.“Heh, it was an example. Still, I’m sure you’re better than some kid right outta school.” He shrugged. “Not that I really expect anything to happen on this little trip, that’ll be entirely up to you, my friend. Whatever you want is just fine with me.”
Carlos smiled at him. “Well… I want to have fun, and to make a good friend. As for anything else…
well, a good rule of thumb my Dad always told me was to make sure you can stand
a road trip with someone first before things got serious.”
Carlos was confused now, and a little concerned. “Hancock?
Hancock, I’m just asking – did you want to do it? If you did, I… I don’t see
why not.” Other than the fact that they hadn’t actually seen each other naked
yet. But, heh – it was gonna happen sometime. “I just… hadn’t heard about that
before. I mean, sharing a bath with someone. We had showers in the Vault and
they’re only big enough for one person…” Was Hancock put off now by Carlos’ naivety? Carlos hadn’t meant to…“I–– well, yeah, but–– it doesn’t matter.” He shook his head, hesitant to even make eye contact now, though he wasn’t entirely sure why, it was just a simple misunderstanding. “I just thought….. I dunno, it might be nice. If it’s too much, it doesn’t matter, we can go at whatever pace you’re comfortable with, I don’t wanna rush you.”
And just like that, the moment was quickly going. And Carlos
could see that the night was going to be awkward if he didn’t do something.
“Um… hey, Han? I think I’d like to give it a try.” Carlos
looked at Hancock and smiled at him. “I mean… you just said it would be nice so…
if you’d like to, I’d like to try it.” It did sound nice… sitting in warm water
cuddled up against Hancock. He wondered how they’d be able to maneuver to get
any washing done, but he supposed there would be a way.
Carlos looked up at Hancock, at first confused at what he
was talking about. But then he smiled and shook his head. “Nah, nothing like
that,” he said. He continued toward the little stove that Hancock had in the
Statehouse. “Hey, are you hungry?” he asked.“Sure, I could eat. What’re ya makin’?” With a smile, Hancock set his book aside and got up to cross the room and loop his arms around Carlos’ middle, standing on his toes just so he could rest his chin on the other man’s shoulder to watch what he was doing. “Is this what ya ran out for? To get us somethin’ nice for dinner?”
Carlos turned his head to glance at Hancock and he looked
back down at the bundle he had, still smiling. “Well, sort of,” he said. “I’m

“Um… you wanna go ahead and get me a pot? To start warming

When Carlos was told that Daisy had a delivery for him he
knew exactly what it was. He also knew that it was a time-sensitive delivery so
he hurried out of the Statehouse to go meet her. After an exchange of caps, and
a thank-you hug from Carlos, he returned to the Statehouse with a carefully
concealed package in his hands. As he came in he was smiling slightly to himself, a little
excited. It hardly struck Hancock as odd when Carlos went running out, barely registering as the ghoul sat on his couch reading the same Grognak comic for the hundredth time, but the smile on his face when he returned got his attention. Looking up, Hancock found himself smiling as well, a curious look on his face as he saw the package. “What’s got you so happy, handsome? Some new piece of tech or somethin’ to play around with?
Carlos looked up at Hancock, at first confused at what he

Carlos nodded. “Yeah, sure – absolutely,” he said. “Um – let’s
go get to working on that Terminal – I shouldn’t take too long – a few hours at
most. And I can write up the list afterward.”“Of course, didn’t mean right this second, heh.” He chuckled softly as he gestured toward the terminal and began making his way over there. Waiting around for a few hours didn’t really sound like much fun to the ghoul, but the prospect of having a better functioning terminal was appealing enough to keep any complaints he may have from coming out. “If you want, feel free to just explain what the hell you’re doin’ as ya go, I’m interested in all of it and I don’t know the first thing about how tech works, just how to use some of it.”
“Oh, yeah – certainly!” Carlos said. “I think I’ll take
apart the terminal that we salvaged first and clean the parts so we have them
ready for when I open up your terminal.” He looked to Hancock with a smile. “I
think I said this before, but don’t be afraid to ask any questions – I’ll
answer whatever you’re wondering!”
Carlos looked at him and gave him a dorky grin. “Heh, thanks…
my dad’s still trying to tell me all the time.” He sighed. “Yeah, I know we
should technically now be in the same age group, but… I dunno, I guess I’m just
an over-thinker. Part of my job and all.”“There’s somethin’ about hearing it from someone who ain’t your parent though.” He let out a light chuckle and shot a wink over at the other man. “We’re close enough, I prefer older people anyway, more experience, more patience–– usually–– less likely to try to use me for money, heh.”
Carlos just laughed. “Well, you aren’t getting one of those

Carlos was frankly shocked. He stared at Hancock, his eyes
wide but his face otherwise blank. Hancock wanted to be in the tub with him. He… didn’t think people did
that. Why would they do that?“Uh… I… I dunno,” he said to Hancock, finally. “I just… I
had no idea that… was an option. Is that… something you want to do?” He was a little bit embarrassed now, but… he was curious about it honestly. That look didn’t give Hancock any confidence, Carlos looked more put off than interested in the idea to him and he was worried he’d made a mistake even bringing it up in the first place.
“It’s–– forget about it, forget I said anything.” He smiled softly, a little unsure. “I don’t want to make you uncomfortable or anything, I’m sorry I brought it up.”
