“I
know.” He chuckled. “I try not to do it too often. Mostly on my house.”
Percival shrugged when the other talked about being cautious.

“It can. It’s saved me a few times. For others … I’ve accidentally offended people before. “

Carlos shrugged slightly. “Well, knowing that you’re
cautious, I think I’d have a hard time being offended now.”

Carlos didn’t usually just go around kissing folks. But he was at least safe in the knowledge that Percival wouldn’t just punch him outright. Maybe.

Carlos gently touched the man’s arm to get his attention, and while Percival was turned toward him Carlos got up on his toes a bit and pressed a gentle – just a touch of the lips – kiss to the Director’s mouth.

“no…
A little weird. But that’s not a bad thing.” Percival says simply. He
gives a little shrug. The other looked down and Percival wasn’t entirely
sure what to say now.

“And certainly not unpleasant.”

Carlos looked up at him. “Oh… oh, yeah?” he asked. “Well… I’d
still like to forget it anyway. If… only to replace it with a better, um…
encounter. I mean, experience! That’s
the word I mean.” He offered Percival a slight smile. “I mean, if… if you wanna
give it a shot, that is…”

Carlos had gone to sleep the night before very tired. He was still very groggy, but as he pushed himself up from the bed he realized something – his bedding was the wrong color. And so were his hands. As he inspected them he realized also that they were the wrong shape. He was the wrong shape. And he discovered that he was missing a leg as well, though the wound had long-since healed from an evidently clean amputation.

He was in a strange house in body not his own. It took a while for Carlos to try and figure out the prosthetic nearby. When it was attached it didn’t feel comfortable at all, so he figured he’d done something wrong. When he caught a glimpse of his reflection in a vanity and soon realized just who he was right then: Percival Graves. Oh boy

Did that mean Graves was him; as in, did the other man wake up in Carlos’ body? He hoped Graves was awake and they would meet to sort this out soon.

And help with the prosthetic leg.

“I
ran into a man today, just bumped into him… didn’t really get a good
look at his face. I don’t really… I didn’t really think about it. I bump
into a lot of people at work.” Busy hallways and all that.

“mm. People are not pleasant.”

Carlos shook his head. “Yeah, sometimes not,”
he agreed. Gosh… now that he was thinking about it, he remembered how
frustrating he found the whole thing. “That man practically made me pick up all
of his books – he barely even helped. He kept fussing with his cloak and the
furry Russian-style hat on his head.”

Carlos sighed. “Sorry… I’m still rather peeved
about it.”

“Russian-style hat, hmm?” he asked raising an eyebrow. “Curious… what did the man look like beyond that? The man i ran into had a fuzzy hat…. how many men can there be wearing russian style hats yesterday?”

“Not many,” Carlos responded. He looked at
Percival curiously. “Think he was the same person?”

“I’m a bit stressed and often worry too much.” He said simply with a shrug and a grin.

The words hit Carlos and he felt a little bad.
Yeah, of course Mr Graves was
stressed. He may have possibly been attacked by some charm or other by someone
and he wasn’t really physically himself. Or rather… his current self.

Carlos offered the other man a slight smile. “Ah…
I suppose I can understand that.”

“It comes with the job. I’ve been told i need to relax.” He said with a small shrug. “My wards have wards.”

Carlos hummed and nodded. “Stacking wards can
be tough… that takes dedication,” he said. But of course, he knew he was
focusing on the wrong thing. “It certainly has its advantages, being cautious.”

Percival stared at him for a moment before slapping a hand to his face. “… I thought i was being very obvious and you just didn’t like me back.” Percival said after a moment, sounding relieved that the other only apparently didn’t understand that yes percival liked him.

“I… no, it… it wasn’t obvious to me,” Carlos
said meekly. “But… maybe that’s because I was wondering if you now thought I was
weird and… you know. Unpleasant.” He folded his arms and looked down nervously.

Percival deflated slightly. “If you want to.” He said quietly. “Although I don’t think i’ll be forgetting it anytime soon, sorry to say.” He had a hint of teasing in his smile.

“And, you really. Have no need to apologize.”

Carlos forced a smile. “What, you planning on
teasing me about it later?” he asked, giving a small laugh.

Great – this was how he was going to die.

“No. I was going to think about it later, and imagine what happens if you were to kiss me again.” Percival said flatly.

Carlos’ smile dropped and he looked at
Percival, just… staring. “Do…” Carlos cleared his throat, as his voice came out
a little hoarse. “Do you… do you actually like
me… or something?” he asked.

God, that was a terrible way to word it. It
sounded pretentious. Carlos should have said it better. “I- I mean…”

Percival laughed. “Alright… if you say so. But I would rather have lunch as an adult. We might be getting less looks if i was an adult.”

Carlos frowned at that. “Are… we getting
strange looks?” he asked. He looked around himself. He hadn’t really noticed…

“Only a little bit.” Percival laughed. “I’ve only noticed because I’m a suspicious asshole most of the time.” He admitted. “Thats how few we’re getting.”

Carlos looked at him and gave a sheepish
smile. “Ah, I see,” he said. He laughed softly. “You’re just getting me
concerned over nothing, you stinker.”
