Carlos went to the drawer indicated and found what he was
looking for. He nodded, grabbing the serving spoon and a couple sets of
chopsticks. “Found them,” he called out. “Thank you!”

Carlos went back to the
stove and busied himself with filling their bowls. He looked over at Hancock. “Where
do you wanna eat?” he asked, smiling widely.

“Depends on whether ya wanna sit down or stand over the counter.” He chuckled, glancing back over the couch again to meet Carlos’ eyes. He breathed in through his nose then, letting out a pleased little hum afterwards. “Man, my sense’a smell might not be so great anymore, but I can tell whatever that is is gonna be delicious, heh. C’mon and sit, let’s eat, sunshine.”

Carlos grabbed the chopsticks and a bowl in each hand before
turning to head over to the couch. He smiled at Hancock as he a bowl down in
front of him and offered a set of chopsticks to him – one of the closest
matching sets he could find.

Carlos sighed. He barely had the chance to try to be sneaky.
Oh well – in the end Hancock would still be surprised.

As Carlos cooked/warmed up the food he thought about the
other present he had – it was in his workshop. Or… an area in the warehouse
that he deemed to be his work area. He’d have to run out and get it after
dinner. Damn – he wished he had a little bit of foresight.

Carlos paid close attention to the noodles, stirring
constantly so that none of it got stuck to the pot. Eventually, steam was
coming up out of the pot and after a test with his finger Carlos thought it was
warm enough without risk of overcooking. He quickly shut off the element and
covered the pot before he went in search of a serving spoon and some
chopsticks.

“Hey, Han – where did you put the utensils?” Carlos called
as he started opening drawers and cabinets.

“Hmm?” Looking up from his book again, Hancock peeked over the back of the couch at him, the question taking a moment to register. “Oh, that uh, that drawer there by the sink….. I think. Unless I moved shit while I was high, it’s happened before, heh.”

Carlos went to the drawer indicated and found what he was
looking for. He nodded, grabbing the serving spoon and a couple sets of

Carlos smiled. “I’m trying to keep it a surprise,” he
admitted as he put in the second container. Enough for two people. “But you’ll
like it, I promise. I know for a fact that you will.”

“A surprise it is, then. I’ll stay over here until you’re done.” Picking up his glass, Hancock settled back into the couch and sipped at his drink, idly leafing through the book he’d been reading.

Carlos smiled awkwardly. “Well, I get sleepy with booze. And
honestly I’d rather be awake. Some juice or something would be nice… but if we
just have the Nuka that’s fine.” He unwrapped the package and opened the first
container of noodles, quickly dumping them into the pot before Hancock could
see it. He hoped he didn’t see it… and he hoped Hancock couldn’t smell it
either.

“Cute. I’ll keep that in mind.” Hancock grabbed a bottle of rum for himself and carried it back to the table then headed to the fridge for a couple bottles, one Nuka and some juice for Carlos and busied himself mixing the soda and rum in his own glass and filling a second with just juice. “So, what are we having, anyway? Or is that a surprise?”

Carlos smiled. “I’m trying to keep it a surprise,” he
admitted as he put in the second container. Enough for two people. “But you’ll

Definitely better
than Sugar Bombs,” Carlos assured him. Carlos took the pot with a grateful nod
and leaned in to press a kiss to Hancock’s mouth. He grinned and turned on the
heating element. “Do you wanna pick something to drink with it? Something nice?”
he suggested.

“Something nice, huh? I know what I want, but I doubt it’s whiskey you were thinkin’ of.” With another quick peck to the lips, Hancock pulled away again and crossed the room to his liquor cabinet to look through what he had. “Are you interested in some wine or a mixed drink, maybe? Or would you rather just some Nuka-Cola?”

Carlos smiled awkwardly. “Well, I get sleepy with booze. And

Carlos turned his head to glance at Hancock and he looked
back down at the bundle he had, still smiling. “Well, sort of,” he said. “I’m
not cooking it because… y’know, I can’t cook. It’s already made. I just need to
warm it up because I thought this would be perfect for the current season, with
how cold it’s been… you know?” He felt a little like he was blabbering a bit.
He was a little nervous, even though he knew Hancock would like what he sent
out for for dinner.

“Um… you wanna go ahead and get me a pot? To start warming
this up?”

“Of course, sunshine.” With a peck on the cheek, Hancock pulled away to fetch a pot from the cabinet, making a point to slide up close to Carlos’ side when he returned. “So what’re ya treating me to, anyway? Better than having Sugar Bombs again, I assume.”

Carlos looked up at Hancock, at first confused at what he
was talking about. But then he smiled and shook his head. “Nah, nothing like
that,” he said. He continued toward the little stove that Hancock had in the
Statehouse. “Hey, are you hungry?” he asked.

“Sure, I could eat. What’re ya makin’?” With a smile, Hancock set his book aside and got up to cross the room and loop his arms around Carlos’ middle, standing on his toes just so he could rest his chin on the other man’s shoulder to watch what he was doing. “Is this what ya ran out for? To get us somethin’ nice for dinner?”

Carlos turned his head to glance at Hancock and he looked

When Carlos was told that Daisy had a delivery for him he
knew exactly what it was. He also knew that it was a time-sensitive delivery so
he hurried out of the Statehouse to go meet her. After an exchange of caps, and
a thank-you hug from Carlos, he returned to the Statehouse with a carefully
concealed package in his hands.

As he came in he was smiling slightly to himself, a little
excited.

It hardly struck Hancock as odd when Carlos went running out, barely registering as the ghoul sat on his couch reading the same Grognak comic for the hundredth time, but the smile on his face when he returned got his attention. Looking up, Hancock found himself smiling as well, a curious look on his face as he saw the package. “What’s got you so happy, handsome? Some new piece of tech or somethin’ to play around with?

Carlos looked up at Hancock, at first confused at what he
was talking about. But then he smiled and shook his head. “Nah, nothing like
that,” he said. He continued toward the little stove that Hancock had in the
