Carlos took the needle. He sighed, looking at the raider’s weeping
wound. Carlos then took another deep breath and flexed his fingers. “Okay…” he
said softly. “Um… okay. Let’s see about going about this…”Slowly he reached out and touched her skin just beside her
wound. She closes her eyes when she feels him touch her skin, taking deep, slow breaths to try to calm herself. “If you take any longer, Carlos, I will bleed out.” Despite her statement, her tone is joking and lighthearted, trying to ease his worries. “Just go on. It does not need to be perfect.”
Carlos tensed slightly at her words, but he nodded. “Right…
right, okay,” he said softly. He breathed again and drew the needle closer to
her skin.
“Did we clean this?” he suddenly asked, pulling the needle
back. “No, no… of course we did!” he
then reasoned. “I wouldn’t have gone this far without cleaning it.” He then
huffed at himself. “I’m sorry – I’ve never done this before. I just – I don’t
want to hurt you any more than you are.”
