“Ohhh What yer daddy don’t know carlos…. I’m a ravager…. we’re like….. ahhhh space pirates as petey calls us..”

Mr Ramon frowned slightly. “Space pirates,” he repeated.

Carlos folded his arms. He looked at the tabletop and nodded. “Yeah…”

“As in… stealing stuff and plundering pirates?” Mikey asked.

Yondu nods. “That would be accurate. We steal… take jobs for clients hunting for rare objects… tomb robbers… hunters… treasure hunters… that’s us…”

“And how did you end up with them, Carlos?” Mr Ramon asked seriously.

Carlos sighed. “I was, uh… abducted. Again. But they don’t make a habit of doing that sort of thing – it’s against their code to kidnap sentients against their will, unless it’s for a bounty-hunting job.”

“Then what was this case? Did you get in trouble with someone?” Mr Ramon asked.

Carlos swallowed slightly. “No… they needed someone to work on their engines. And… I happened to have the skills needed.”

Yondu nods. “See my boys went to the station yet boy was. They were tasked with hiring a mechanic… my terran boy saw this guy and well… got interested… Well the nova Corp… uhhh kinda like galactic police don’t like us much. My boys nabbed you boy as a last dich resort and well….. was a good one. He was more then we’d ever thought. Because something special to the crew…. my boys… and… to me…”

“I chose to stay with them,” Carlos said. “Not only was Yondu willing to give me passage home, but… I learned to appreciate them for who they are. And the ship has gone through a massive overhaul in the crew and we’ve made the ship a better place to be on.”

Yondu looks to carlos and smiles nodding in agreement. At that moment his com started beeping and he nods to them before getting up and taking the call a little bit away. “Yes Kraglin. Petey. What is it?” Blinks as peter pushes Kraglins head away from the screen. “Hey when do you want us to head down?”

Kraglin growled on the communicator. “Peter, I swear to the Watchers I’m gonna gut ya if ya don’t sit still!” Peter was shoved away and Kraglin reappeared. “Cap’n… what’s the situation – did you find Ramon’s family?”

“It’s Kraglin and Peter,” Carlos explained to his family in a hushed tone.

“What are Watchers?” Mikey asked, to which Carlos just shrugged.

Yondu rolls his eyes. “Kraglin be nice to peter. Peter stop annoying Kraglin. For Anthos sake…yes we found his family. Just had a home cooked meal you both missed. Peter you can thank Kraglin for missing it as he was being a grump and didn’t want to come with.” Smirks as peter groans and starts crawling on Kraglin. “Boys boys! Peter stop pulling on your brother before he bites you. Now you both have a chance tomorrow morning to hop on a mship and come here for food and shopping. Kraglin you are to be on your best behavior… that’s a order.”

“Aye, Cap’n,” Kraglin murmured. “But all due respectin’, you told me to stay an’ watch the ship. It ain’t my fault Pete didn’t go with you.”

“Did I? Huh. Guess I wasn’t thinking…. anyway. Bright eyes and bushy tailed. Petey…. you can sleep in Kraglins bed tonight right?”

Peter nods and hugs kraglin around the neck.

“Just don’t wet the bed.”

“Oh my god!!! That was years ago!!!! You gonna ever stop bringing that up!! Yeeesh!!”

Yondu smirks. “And when you boys head down stay in invisible mode. Don’t need to attract and try dressing…uhhh terran..”

Carlos looked up from where he was sitting. “Peter’s fine – Kraglin should wear some pants though.”

Kraglin seemed to cringe a bit, hearing Carlos’ words. “… Fine,” he murmured, though Carlos would have been unable to hear him.

“Borrow some of Pete’s clothing if you need to. And boys.. uhhh…. good night and sleep well. See you tomorrow.”

Clicks off and returns to the table with a yawn. “Just my boys checking in. Both are worry warts.”

Mr Ramon smiled at him. “They sound like charming young men,” he said.

Carlos laughed. “No, not really. They’re boys… but they care a lot about Yondu. They’re his family.”

Yondu thinks snd shrugs. “uhhhh place called misery……. or something. So you know… who wants to live there right. So yeah.”

“Misery?” Mr Ramon asked. “I don’t think I’ve heard of it…. Mikey, put your phone down!”

“I was just gonna look it up really quick,” Mikey explained. “’Misery City’ is a comic book, by the way. I can’t tell if there’s a city named ‘Misery’.”

“We can ask Peter later,” Carlos reminded, though he wondered why he hadn’t asked the kid himself before.

Yondu leans back in his chair sipping the juice. “Was a damn fine meal there sir. First time I’ve had anything well made and not slop. I’d hire you as the cook of my ship.”

Mr Ramon smiled at him. “Well, I appreciate the sentiment, Mr Yondu,” he said. “However, I’m retired from kitchen-work. I just can’t move as fast as I used to anymore. Thank you for the compliment, however. Is the juice okay? Do you feel sick at all from it like before with the citrus?”

“No the Just is great. No Ill effects from this.” Smiles a bit then sighs leaning back full as could be and foronce he did eat with a cup of grog next to him. “I’ll call the boys to head down tomorrow carlos. So you can take them shopping. I can’t go for obvious reasons but they will like it.”

“Sure,” Carlos nodded. He then smiled. “We’ll pick you up some Cheetos too so you’ll finally know what they taste like.”

“If there like my beastie worms I’ll love them. I got you hooked on those after all. Hehe. They may wiggle but you like em.” Yawns a bit leaned back in his chair full and relaxed for once.

Mikey lifted an eyebrow. “What are Beasties?” he asked.

“Grubs, basically,” Carlos explained. “But they have a weird sort of processed cheesy flavor…. like Cheetos. Though not really as crunchy… it’s weird.” Carlos looked to Yondu and smiled slightly. “Hey… you gonna fall asleep on us, big guy?” he asked.

His ears flick a bit. “Hmmm. Maybe. Good food….. safe atmosphere……. relaxed…. heh…. I could fall asleep.”

“Would you like to stay the night?” Mr Ramon asked. “We can set up… well, we usually offer Carlos’ room. But since he’s here…”

“He can sleep in my room,” Carlos said. “That is… if you’re okay staying here, Yondu. If you wanna go back to the ship and stay there the night and bring the boys down tomorrow… that’s fine too.”

“I’ll stay and tell the boys to head down and land close. I’ll have to stay in here durring the day but you can take the boys out.”

Carlos nodded. “Of course,” he said. “Let’s go ahead and bring your bike in, then – Dad, you have room in the garage, right?”

Mr Ramon smiled slightly and looked down. “Well, Carlos… a lot of your stuff from your apartment is there. After the police had gone through it and couldn’t find any evidence we were invited to take it home… I had Ralphie and Wanda help pack it up and move it in.”

“You can pull your bike around back, though,” Mikey said. “There’s room in the backyard, and we have a tarp you can hide it with.”

“Sounds good,” Carlos said. “It’s Yondu’s bike, by the way.”

MIkey blinked. “Really?”

“Yeah, I know,” Carlos laughed.

Yondu thinks. “Stolen from like…. 15 or so years ago…. my first trip to terra when getting my boy petey. This ass hat was messing with my other boy kraggles…. could heat it through my com you know. Krags was just interested in them bikes near this bar…. while Krags was out getting us some terran grub. Guys messed with my boy. Saw the one who roughed up my boy that night right before we got petey. Showed him what a real roughing up is and took his bike which was really fun to play with.”

“You committed grand theft auto against a biker and got away with it?” Mr Ramon asked. “That’s pretty impressive.”

“First time I’m hearing this story,” Carlos said. “I only knew about the bike today too.”
