“Yes, I know, it probably has its good side, but now we need to keep it from getting engulfed in the flames of Hell.” Stephen was still aggressively searching for more bloodstones until Carlos mentioned his stash. “Yes, please. I need to learn how to understand this magic quick before Azazel actually shows up, discovering this source of power and using it for his own good!” The small bamf shivered when he mentioned the demon. “Don’t worry, we will prevent that from happening, even if it means getting stuck in Nightvale for some time before I can make it back to the Sanctum.” His mind was so focused on stopping that red monster from destroying this place.
Carlos smiled slightly at the other man and gestured for him to follow. “Should we work on finding the rest of the Bamfs and getting them to safety?” he asked. “I can put in a call to the radio station and let them know that they’re benign, so people can start helping them.”
He unlocked the door that led to a staircase that went straight up from them. He started up the stairs, expecting Dr Strange to follow him with the Bamf.
“Actually….” He stopped for a moment to ponder the request. “yes, that would be a brilliant idea. The more bamfs we save, the better.” Stephen once again started thinking, now needing to know the mechanics of what he was actually doing because in truth, he had no idea. “Is there a book on bloodstone chants that I can resource back to lying around? It would be of some assistance…”
The bamf started cooing in his ear again which he turned to instantly. “If I could only understand you. It would be helpful only if my magic worked or Nightcrawler was here, but this will have to do. I can only assume that you know something I don’t, which seems to be the scenario for everyone I meet in this town. No offense, Carlos. It’s just all so…strange, just like me. And I just got here, so I’m trying to make sense of it all while attempting to help you with what knowledge I have.”
“Well, I don’t have a book,” Carlos told him. “Books are
dangerous – I don’t know if you noticed the chains on my bookshelf down in the
lab. But there is a phone app for
bloodstone rituals – I’ll go ahead and show it to you upstairs.”
They reached the top of the steps and Carlos pushed open the
door. “So, who’s Nightcrawler? I thought we were talking about a Kurt Wagner
before…”
