TIL “Graham’s Number” is so large that according to mathematicians, in theory, storing the ginormous number in one’s head could create a black hole

via reddit.com

i don’t think black holes work like that but i don’t know enough about math to say

there are a number of reasons why you can’t store Graham’s Number in your head, that’s just the final one. Your brain doesn’t have enough brain cells to store the digits of Graham’s Number. At the body’s rate of ~1,000 new brain cells a day – and even assuming you don’t lose any – you’d hit the end of the universe before you made enough. If your cells started somehow multiplying, that wouldn’t be fast enough either. Even then, your head would explode from the pressure. If your skull was indestructible, though, and you could make new cells at incredible speeds, then yeah… eventually it’d get too dense and form a black hole (it would happen before you get to 10^60, which is pittance compared to Graham’s Number). So it would take two acts of magic for this to happen, and if magic is real then you have better things to do than turning your brain into a black hole. Like talking to ducks or summoning antique globes

jeez graham

“it is so large that the observable universe is far too small to contain an ordinary digital representation of Graham’s number, assuming that each digit occupies one Planck volume, possibly the smallest measurable space”

Holy shit.

COOL IT GRAHAM

hey guys im just here to talk about my cool new number i invented called vans number. it’s kinda hard to tell u what nunber it is cuz it’s SO fuckin huge for you simpletons, but it’s approximately grahams number times 3… yeah no big deal. my dick is huge by the way

Me holding all of Graham’s number and pictures of his nude mom in my big brain meat

2018 Goals

Since last week I’ve been getting extra money at work for free

Yo Canada, quick question. Why is your money see through?!?

so we can shine a laser pointer through the window and see the value amount projected afar as added protection from forgeries

Yo USA, why the FUCK are we still using fragile scraps of linen like fucking animals when we could have fucking Laser Show Dollars instead?

Me;

Someone approached me irl yesterday and mentioned this video and I got so flustered because I can’t believe people remember me most by my 3 am fever dream wow

I think this video is cursed because every so often I’ll think about it out of the blue and the next time I’m on tumblr I see it.

This video is definitely cursed. Cause I’m OP and I died making it

This is going to be stuck in my head for the rest of my life and I’m not sure I’m prepared for that

Schrödinger opens the box and nothing changes.

The cat lacks vital signs (no heartbeat, no breathing, no brain function): the cat is dead.

The cat exhibits continued animation (blinking, walking, nudging his hand with its little head): the cat is alive.

Schrödinger is afraid.

That has not changed, either.

2018 is off to a good start

That wiener drop was C R I T I C A L

ok yk what I like about this, though?

Like if it had been just a human making a hot dog, sure the dramatic music and lack of speech would have been funny, but it wouldn’t have been cool

we find it amazing that this machine is able to be used to do such a delicate task, even though a human could easily do it without batting an eyelash, and I really like that

because when that machine does heavy lifting, it’s normal

but if a human were to effortlessly lift the same weight that those machines are built to lift, it would also be considered amazing

It’s because they’re built differently, Machines vs Humans, that is. So we’re amazed when an average human does something that normally, only a machine can do, and vise-versa.

I think that this is a hyperbolic example of how we SHOULD feel when other people accomplish things, and even how we should feel about our own small accomplishments

everyone is built differently. For one human, X task could be as easy as making a hotdog. For another human, the same task could be as difficult as lifting a support beam in a building. We’re built different, and I really like this video because our natural responses to it are something that we could really apply to other humans in a way that is supportive, I think.

Read; Maybe you have depression but you still got out of bed today. That’s amazing. We’re all built differently, and comparing ourselves to one another in a negative light is completely pointless, because we’re all so different. We should all try to be proud and supportive of one another’s accomplishments.
