Carlos chuckled. “Glad I’m good for something,” he joked. His hand came up to touch Hancock’s cheek and guide the ghoul’s mouth to his own so they could kiss where Carlos really wanted to.

“You’re good for a lot more than that.” The ghoul hummed against his lips as Carlos pulled him in for a proper kiss. He hugged him closer and smiled into the kiss, more than happy with this little turn of events, regardless of how far it would actually lead.

Carlos sighed happily through his nose as he held Hancock close. He kissed him and kept kissing him, slow and careful. Carlos was just enjoying the texture of Hancock’s mouth and the soft, slick noises they made as their mouths moved together. He was struck momentarily by how happy he was that they were with each other. So many things could have kept them from getting together, but there they were. And Carlos was very, very glad.

Carlos tried not to grin too hard or seem to eager as he squeezed Hancock’s hand before running off to clean and dress up. Thankfully he’d had the foresight to trim his beard, but his hair did need to be brushed and his face washed.

But eventually Carlos came back, fresh as the morning wearing the shirt and vest. Even as he walked out though, he started to worry that he might be over-dressed.

image

For some reason, Hancock hadn’t exactly expected a whole wardrobe change, but when Carlos came back looking more put together than he ever had, the felt under-dressed. He whistled softly as he looked him up and down, a smile spreading across his face a moment later and he stepped closer to the other man, placing his hands on his hips and pulling him in for a kiss.

“I have to say, handsome, you clean up real nice. What did I do to deserve this little treat, hmm?”

Carlos smiled sheepishly, squirming just a little under the appraisal. He gripped Hancock’s arms gently, wanting to pull him into a hug.

“I’ve been looking for an excuse,” Carlos admitted. “I saw this and just… I really had to have it. I was really hoping that you’d like it… though, that might be funny to say I guess. “

As the summer days rolled by, a full moon crept closer and closer. Thankfully, the woods surrounding the camp were large and caves were scatted everywhere, maybe Carlos could wait this out in a cave? all he had to do was find one and hope some other animal didn’t make its home there, right? -(the worse starter maker) L

Carlos wandered through the forest. He knew he’d seen a cave somewhere – it looked like an old bear cave, though he hadn’t gone in it before. He wanted to be as far away from his camp and the summer camps, in case the children had an idea to wander around at night to hunt for snipes. The full moon would make visibility perfect for it, so it was a reasonable concern in Carlos’ mind.

He finally came across the cave he was looking for. And not too soon either – the moon would rise probably within the next ten minutes. Carlos ventured forth, holding his flashlight up to search the inside of the cave. Hopefully it was empty. Could a werewolf beat a bear? Maybe?

he looked down at and shifted his paws, unsure how to feel about this

Carlos’ tail stopped moving. Right…

I’m… not going to be like this in the morning, Carlos said. A wolf, I mean. I know you probably don’t like human adults so… I wanted to get out of your fur before then.

And risk being discovered by the children or the counselors, if any of them decided to go for a midnight walk.

‘You.. You Still Don’t Have To Go, Things Are Just.. Different Now’ he looked up at the other, hoping he would somehow get what he was trying to say

Carlos looked at him. I don’t exactly see how… I’m a human. I have been the entire time. I just… have a condition, that makes me look not that way.

‘Well.. You’ll Just Have To Not Kill Me In My Sleep’ he tiredly layed his head down

You’re worried about me killing you?? Carlos asked incredulously.

‘I’m Worried Anyone Trying To Kill Me, It’s Nothing Personal’

Carlos was quiet for a second. I guess I could say the same. I thought you would’ve gone after me. Nothing personal, though… it was just a worry I had as well.

‘I Think People Think I’m Mean Cause I’m So Big..’ he yawned ‘But I’m Only Mean When I Have To Be’

Carlos nodded. Yeah… it’s why I worried when you were getting close to the camp. My kid’s there, so… you know.

‘Yeah I Know..’ he glanced out of the cave, the world seemed so quiet

Carlos was silent for a moment.

So, um… yeah, he said finally. Then Carlos lay down with his head sitting on top of his pants. So… if you see a human here in the morning, then it’s probably me. But then Carlos looked over at the other creature. I mean… if you want me to stay. If not, then let me know and I’ll…

‘It’s Too Late To Think About Going Somewhere Else, It’s Best To Rest Now While We Still Have The Night, Right?’ he lifted his head to look at the other, wings twitching slightly

Carlos’ ears perked. He would have smiled if he could. That sounds great. I, uh… appreciate this. I just didn’t want to scare the children, you know? They haven’t seen me like this before, so…

‘I Wouldn’t Worry To Much, The Kids Here Are Stronger Then They Seem’ he yawned and stretched out

Carlos just hummed and shut his eyes. He curled up against his clothes and let out a long sigh. He was pretty tired.

he curled back up ‘Good Night Friend..’

Carlos hummed again, softly. Goodnight, Drake. Sleep well.

Why the hell – Max? Max, where are you buddy? I need to know how you’re feeling.

@dedmaxsearchhistory

.. you need to know if i’m feeling? that’s.. a weird way to phrase that..

“How”. I need to know “How” you’re feeling. Do you feel sick at all?

not really.. *he put a hand on his stomach*

You don’t feel sick? That’s… weird. What kind of paint was it?

i dunno, it didn’t have a label

Okay… um, where’s the container? I might be able to identify it. I’m a scientist, after all.

it’s back at my tent *he motions behind him* it seems really cheap though, like the rest of this damn camp

Well, cheap might mean non-toxic. Usually it’s the good stuff that can harm you really badly. Why’d you drink it, Max?

i momentarily mistook it for toothpaste *he starts walking towards his tent* i also need a new toothbrush..

Well, you shouldn’t drink toothpaste either, Max, just so you know. The flouride, if more than what you use for brushing is ingested, can be poisonous. *he doesn’t entirely believe the ‘toothpaste’ story, but decides to wait and see if Max will tell him what really happened later*

i wasn’t drinking toothpaste, i was just trying to brush my fucking teeth! *he sighed as he stepped into the messy tent, grabbing one of the random, unmarked tubes*

*Looks at Max in surprise, but then a disapproving frown appears on his face.* Hey – That wasn’t called for, Max.

*he sighs softly, glancing away* i’m sorry, i’m just.. not really that great a day again

That’s alright, Max – we all have those. But you understand that you shouldn’t take it out on other people, right? Let me see the tube… I want to know what it was you ate.

*he quietly handed the other the tube of paint, putting his hands in his pockets as he looked at the floor. the tube was white and had no label*

*looks at the tube with a hum. He opens it and sniffs it* Smells like acrylic.

.. what does that mean..?

Well, acrylic is usually what is given to children for their projects. This might belong to that art kid. How much of the tube did you ingest?

Carlos smiled and nodded, opening his mouth to take a bite from the cake in Hancock’s hands. It was incredibly crunchy and sweet, despite the years it was sealed away in this cardboard box. One had to wonder about pre-war food – what was it made of for it to be preserved for so long?

“Ish goo’!” he reported, his mouth still full as he was still chewing.

He let out a little giggle at that and covered his mouth to avoid accidentally spitting any of his mouthful of food out. Once he finished his bite, he moved in closer and took Carlos by the arm to lead him over to the couch so they could sit instead. “Come on, let’s dig in in comfort, huh? What else did you get?”

Carlos set his tote on the coffee table and started pull things out. “The usual,” he answered. “Some Fancy Lads, a pack of bubble gum – I was running low – A couple bottles of Nuka Cherry… oh, here’s some Nuka Dark. I don’t know what it is, but it came out of Nuka World, so I thought we’d give it a try. I also got us some cooked squirrel bits and carrots for dinner later.”
