Carlos went out into the storm with his equipment, since the weather was really interesting around Sleepy Peak Peak (what, with Spooky island and that one side of the lake always being covered in dark, foreboding clouds).
As he approached one of the locations of a lightning strike however he paused, seeing a person on the ground. Oh no – did it strike someone?
Carlos hurried over and dropped his equipment to the side to start inspecting the body for life.
“He-hello? Hello, can you hear me? Sir?”
J: “Nope” he crossed his arms over his stomach, glancing back at Carlos “Believe Me when I say actually tried though..”
“Should I pick up some drugs to help you?” Carlos asked. “Benadryll or Melatonin or something? You need to rest to heal…”
J: “I probably have some at home still.. Rest isn’t just just sleep, Though”
“You’re not at home, remember?” Carlos asked. “That’s why I’m asking.”
J: he chuckles “I know I’m not at home, I’m just saying I can rest when I get home”
“Are you even strong enough to get yourself back at this point?” Carlos asked him.

“He-hello? Hello, can you hear me? Sir?”
J: he climbed in, wincing slightly “My boss, His son, A couple friends.. Some battles leave scars, What can You do?”
Carlos nodded. “Do you think your buddies would start up another portal to come looking for you?” Carlos asked. He paused for a moment. “You doing okay?“
J: “Short verison? Not really.. As for My friends, I doubt they’d send anyone looking for Me this soon” he buckled up
Carlos pressed his lips together, worried. “I’ll try to drive carefully,” he promised. He went around to get into his driver’s seat and put his own belt on before reaching to adjust the rear view mirror. “Why wouldn’t they send someone to look for you? Did they not see you get injured?”
J: “Well I’m guessing the portal was My bosses, But My work place is.. Uh, Literally hell so they don’t tend to care if one demon ends up dying because they can replace Me without a second thought”
Carlos looked at him. “I’m sorry but… that’s pretty shitty.” It also begged the question of what did Jon do to end up in Hell? But Carlos wasn’t going to ask that. Not yet. “Well, we’ll get you to the camp and hopefully figure out a way to get you home.”
J: he nods “After a bit of rest, I should be able to open a portal for Myself to get back home then I get out of Your hair”
“That sounds reasonable,” Carlos said as he started the car. He pulled them out of the parking lot and started the drive back to the camp.
J: “It’ll be nice to be back somewhere safe..” he looked out the window
Carlos nodded. “Certainly,” he said. Just so long as nothing else too weird happened.
J: he yawned and rubbed his eyes “How far’s the camp..?”
“It’ll take us maybe twenty minutes to get there,” Carlos said. He glanced at Jon. “You didn’t sleep last night, did you?”
“Because your parents thought you needed company?” Carlos suggested, a little smartly, with a small teasing smile.
“I got all the company I needed when I was eight and Drake hatched. Didn’t need built in annoyances,” Mia was being dramatic as she draped herself over her friend.
Carlos just grinned wider. He put an arm around her shoulder and gave her a pat. “There there,” he said. “May I ask what brought this on?”
“Cass seems to have decided it’s great fun to flirt with everyone she meets and Loni seems dead set on fighting everyone she meets. I’m half convinced they’re going to start an intergalactic incident.”
“Sounds like they take after you,” Carlos joked. “But seriously… I think kid siblings are meant to be weird. I’ve got a brother, you know… he’s almost too smart for his own good sometimes.”
“Carlos, we’re triplets. And I’m technically the youngest by like. An hour or something. How am I the responsible one?” She made a face of mock disgust at that, shaking her head slightly.
“You know what, I never would’ve known if you hadn’t told me,” Carlos said. “Maybe it’s a spiritual thing? Like, your spirit’s older than theirs?”

“What makes you say that? I have been sleeping just fine!” Of course, that was a lie but why would he outwardly confess to being so sleep deprived from having nightmares almost every day due to Titan
“Do
you have a spot where you normally stargaze?” Peter asks looking over
at the other. “You know, Tony Stark and I are good friends… I’m sure
he’ll have something for you to look at the stars and the Space Station
with. Not to mention Mr. Stark is out of town and Pepper is with him. So
I mean I could take you there and it’s not too far from here… you could
be home in time to sleep and wake up and go to your interview?”
Peter shook his head “honestly I don’t know much about Venom
yet to tell you if he’s a threat around here or not. Aside from the bank
robbing and all I don’t really have anything on him. I’m just being
cautious.” He shrugs. “But, you might be right he might not come over
here and bother anyone.”
“I used to go an hour or two outside the city,” Carlos said. “There’s a field near some woods that I like to go to.” But Spidey’s offer both surprised and bothered Carlos. “Um… thanks for the offer, but… it’s probably not a good idea for me to be anywhere near Stark’s stuff.”
Not that Carlos didn’t want to – it would be a dream come true to be able to see some of Tony Stark’s gear and use some of it. But he had a very good reason for declining.
Peter was a bit surprised that he denied the offer, anyone would have jumped at the opportunity to check out Tony Stark’s home and play with whatever cool inventions they could lay their hands on. “Well, alright then… if you change your mind just let me know… Tony won’t mind and it’s not like he’d care anyway.” Peter nods. “So if you’re afraid of getting caught or something you don’t have to worry.”
He lifts up the mask to reveal his lips, offering a gentle smile to the other. “So, I’m guessing you’re a huge science nerd as well? You said you’ve got an interview tomorrow? That’s neat I hope you get the job.”
Carlos smiled slightly – nervously – and he shrugged a bit. “Yeah, well… he’d probably mind,” he said softly.
Carlos was surprised when Spidey lifted his mask just a bit and almost missed the question. “Uh – well, um, yeah. I do. Thanks a lot, Spidey.” Carlos shrugged again, looking down at the gravel on the roof. “It’s… not exactly the sort of thing I would like to work at, but… yeah, I need it. I need to pool some money so I can get out of here, you know?”
“I don’t blame you for wanting to get out of here… New York isn’t exactly the safest place. I do try my best to keep it as safe as possible. But, you know can’t have a superhero without a villain.”
“Anyway, what is it you’ll be doing?” He asks directing his attention toward the cars below, Peter watched as each vehicle passed by, scanning the streets for anything unusual. “You know if you ever need help getting into a good job I could talk Mr Stark into helping? He’d probably do it if I asked.”
“It’s… retail,” Carlos admitted. He looked down at the street as well, frowning slightly. “You, uh… probably shouldn’t be talking to Stark about people you just met. No offense, Spidey, but you barely know me.
He wondered a bit if Spider-man should even be out; he already said he was a teenager who wasn’t sleeping, and if something happened he could get seriously hurt. He talked really familiarly of Tony Stark. Did he just like to throw his name around, or was Stark like his dad or something? Obviously not, but was there a mentor thing going on?
Carlos let go of his collar and shrugged slightly. “It’s… it’s been a while,” he said. “Honestly, I haven’t been keeping track.”
Except he had been. He knew exactly what day it was that he had been sent out. He just didn’t acknowledge it verbally because… well, it just depressed him, to say the very least.
Kira nods in belief, not noticing any discomfort that Carlos may have conveyed.
“I see. Well, I am at least glad to have you here to bring me books. Even if it’s mostly based on the fact you’ll be compensated. You’ve brought me some good ones. Ones I wouldn’t have been able to read where I come from either. I know what it’s like to have thinks limited and prohibited.”
“Hey now, I didn’t say that I didn’t like seeing you happy with the books,” Carlos told her, a smile growing on his face again. “Friends like to see friends happy… or is that a cultural difference that I”m missing?” He then looked at her. “Where are you from? If… I mean, if you’re okay with me asking.”
Carlos smiled a little wryly. “What, the Pip-boy didn’t tip you off?” he asked. “Yeah, uh, I’m from Vault 105. I’m actually wearing my vault suit under my flannel shirt here…” He reached up pull back the collars of both his labcoat and flannel to shown the Vault-Boy Blue. “I layer because it’s kinda cold in the Commonwealth.”
“I guess I’ve just never really noticed it.” Kira says, glancing down to his side at the bulky wrist wear. She wasn’t a very observant person a lot of the time, how embarrassing.
His revelation of the blue under his clothes made her smile widely, it was like he was undercover. How mysterious.
“How strange. From Vault 105 you say?” She recalls just what the experiment was on that particular vault. “That’s a ways away Carlos. How long have you been gone?”
Carlos let go of his collar and shrugged slightly. “It’s… it’s been a while,” he said. “Honestly, I haven’t been keeping track.”
