“You haven’t slept for days, have you, Spider-man?”

“What makes you say that? I have been sleeping just fine!” Of course, that was a lie but why would he outwardly confess to being so sleep deprived from having nightmares almost every day due to Titan

“Do
you have a spot where you normally stargaze?” Peter asks looking over
at the other. “You know, Tony Stark and I are good friends… I’m sure
he’ll have something for you to look at the stars and the Space Station
with. Not to mention Mr. Stark is out of town and Pepper is with him. So
I mean I could take you there and it’s not too far from here… you could
be home in time to sleep and wake up and go to your interview?”

Peter shook his head “honestly I don’t know much about Venom
yet to tell you if he’s a threat around here or not. Aside from the bank
robbing and all I don’t really have anything on him. I’m just being
cautious.” He shrugs. “But, you might be right he might not come over
here and bother anyone.”

“I used to go an hour or two outside the city,” Carlos said. “There’s a field near some woods that I like to go to.” But Spidey’s offer both surprised and bothered Carlos. “Um… thanks for the offer, but… it’s probably not a good idea for me to be anywhere near Stark’s stuff.”

Not that Carlos didn’t want to – it would be a dream come true to be able to see some of Tony Stark’s gear and use some of it. But he had a very good reason for declining.

Peter was a bit surprised that he denied the offer, anyone would have jumped at the opportunity to check out Tony Stark’s home and play with whatever cool inventions they could lay their hands on. “Well, alright then… if you change your mind just let me know… Tony won’t mind and it’s not like he’d care anyway.” Peter nods. “So if you’re afraid of getting caught or something you don’t have to worry.”

He lifts up the mask to reveal his lips, offering a gentle smile to the other. “So, I’m guessing you’re a huge science nerd as well? You said you’ve got an interview tomorrow? That’s neat I hope you get the job.”

Carlos smiled slightly – nervously – and he shrugged a bit. “Yeah, well… he’d probably mind,” he said softly.

Carlos was surprised when Spidey lifted his mask just a bit and almost missed the question. “Uh – well, um, yeah. I do. Thanks a lot, Spidey.” Carlos shrugged again, looking down at the gravel on the roof. “It’s… not exactly the sort of thing I would like to work at, but… yeah, I need it. I need to pool some money so I can get out of here, you know?”

My Fingers Slipped @partyplanningforsuckers The heat only seemed to be packed in at the circus, with the hundreds of citizens that had swarmed like ants and the intense rides that seemed to have a life of their own. The smell of sugary cotton candy and popcorn was enough to lure anyone who had just come from a days work, the circus was the place to be. With a circle of sand and tigers, along with swinging trapeze and double jointed dancers, the main stage was selling ticket for such a view.

Carlos hadn’t been to a circus in years – not since he was little. But there had been a raffle at work and Carlos had won a coupon for a free ticket. He kinda hoped that his brother and/or his dad were in town so he could invite them to go with him.

Carlos made his way to the ticket office that was set up, standing in the line with his coupon as he looked at everything around him. Some things were different than what he remembered or imagined a circus to be like, but not everything could be a dated cliche trope he supposed.

Once at the ticket office he smiled and offered the coupon. “Hey… this any good?” he asked in a joking manner.

“I-I
already told you-“ He desperately stuttered out, nervous of someone
hearing them. “When I drink it gives my body a euphoric rush of..
certain emotions, and it also keeps me alive.. It’s like having to eat
vegetables and drink water. I gotta do it or there will be consequences
like extreme fatigue, and wild hunger..”

Carlos nodded again, typing into the ipad. “Okay then… cool. THis is all very interesting.”

But then Carlos realized that Skip seemed kind of off. “Hey… are you okay?” he asked.

Average Day in Hatsville (closed w/ blackwhitehat)

Carlos was practically living in Hatsville now. His drive to learn was as strong as ever, and there was always something for him to study. Strange energies, fragments of old experimental devices, the occasional escaped test subject… Carlos studied all he could. Except the one thing that remained out of his reach: Manor #333, on Hat Avenue – Black Hat’s manor.

The manor was the source of a dark energy reading that Carlos really, really wanted to study, but he had not yet had the chance. And it wasn’t just the energy that intrigued Carlos, but the very scientific-sounding explosions and loud noises that sometimes could be heard across the island.

One such incident occurred while Carlos was conducting an interview with what appeared to be a very, very, very small person claiming to have been trapped for months in a shrunken plane. The only warning that Carlos got was the sudden clicking that sounded when his Danger Meter spiked, and then the whole island was rocked with a loud FWOOM!

Carlos’ interview had fled and he was left wondering what happened at the manor. So Carlos packed up a few choice instruments and went outside of his motel to investigate.

The
vampire gave another huff through his fangs, shaking his head once
more. “No.. They don’t even have to be willing- I just need to be able
to look them in the eye,”

“I thought you said you just needed to touch them?” Carlos asked him. “What’s the process of it exactly?”

He waved his hand dismissively, leaning back and sighing. “Sorry I’m not extremely specific about everything I say, I’ve never been a year subject before.” He huffed, “Touching someone is preferable for a tighter hold, but it’s not necessary if you’re making eye contact..”

“A tighter hold,” Carlos repeated as he typed into the notepad. “What do you mean by that?”

“I mean I can control them better.. The eye contact is an emotional and spiritual control, and it can be enhanced by touching them for extreme physical control..” He muttered, “Now. May I have a subject?”

“I’ll have to talk to the others,” Carlos said. “It’s just Jake here right now, and I’m not sure if it’s something he wants to do. He might want to plan for it, at the very least. But we can definitely put this on our schedule of study.”

Things were getting frustrating again. Everything took forever around here, and it was boring more than anything Skip had gone through. “Fine… Did you want me for anything else?”

“Well, I do want to ask you about your…eating habits,” Carlos told him. “You eat regular food.. how often do you need blood?”

At that, he blushed and smiled anxiously. “A-a lot.. Erm- sorry, I mean at least three times a week.. But that’s only if I’m trying to be careful, but if I’m with people who are being paid by me, I can often drink from a human up to fourteen times a week..”

Carlos nodded. “Okay… about how much do you take in each feeding? Do you know?”

“N-no… I don’t measure-“ Guilt strangled his tongue, “I just take what I pay for.. that usually means I get to drink until the man passes out,”

Carlos paused and looked at Skip with a raised eyebrow.

He wasn’t judging, he really wasn’t. If everyone was consenting to the events that were transpiring, then he didn’t have a huge problem with it. Though passing out was a bit on the verge of dangerous, depending on the individual.

“Right, then. So… you think it varies then? The amount?”

The coy smile over his lips only seemed to intensify as he hid his face and nodded in embarrassment, noting Carlos’ silence as judgement and disgust. “Y-yeah.. It varies.. “ He confirmed, “More questions?”

Carlos nodded. “Yeah. So eating regular food… does that do anything for you? Or is the blood just a sort of supplement or a treat and you still require traditional food?”
