“I wanted to. I’m glad you like it.” Nuzzles his head and yawns curling into the warmth.

Carlos chuckled softly, and then he let out a sigh. This was
so kind of Yondu… and Carlos had no idea on how he would repay him. As for
Earth…

He had to go back. His dad and brother had no idea where he
was or if he was safe.  And depending on
what happened, he’d have to come up with a story for where he’d been for the
police. Maybe he could talk with Kraglin and Peter and ask them to help verify
whatever he came up with.

“Hey… I want you to meet my family,” Carlos told Yondu.

“I….. I don’t know about that Carlos….. I mean… I’m a alien….. it wouldn’t be safe for you.. your family… or myself to be honest….. while I’d love to… it’s… best you go home…. “

Carlos turned to Yondu. “But my dad would want to thank you
for taking care of me. And my brother too. They’d love to meet you. They’re not
judgemental people – once they understand that aliens are a thing and life
exists outside of Earth, they’ll accept you and treat you like a person.  Are… are you worried that they won’t?”

“Well… there’s that……. but there’s also…those scientists that…. capture strange creatures…. and… dissect them or test of them…..and cage them….”

Carlos frowned. He set down the book and reached his arms
around Yondu’s neck to hug him. “I wouldn’t let that happen to you, Yondu. I
want you to be safe visiting my family. And they’ll keep you a secret, I know
they will.”

Looks at him and pulls him close and presses there foreheads together. “You mean that? I mean… I want to meet your family…. you talk about them so much…..”

Carlos nodded. “I want them to meet you too,” he said. “I
don’t know about telling them about your occupation right away, but… getting to
know you first, I’m sure they would like you.”

Smiles and nuzzles against himtightening his hold. “I love you carlos…”

Carlos smiled slightly, and rubbed Yondu’s back. Yondu was
working his little blue tuchus off trying to woo Carlos. And, if he were honest…
Carlos felt wooed.

“I… I think I love you too, Yondu,” he said softly.

Yondu couldn’t stop the grin on his face as he kisses and nuzzles all over his face. “Your so perfect.”

Carlos laughed softly and shook his head. “Yondu, c’mon…
there’s no such thing as perfect.” He then smiled. “I just got an idea – what if
I got you guys stock for the Mess? Like, a bunch of Earth food everyone can try
out. I think it might be fun.”

“Hmmmmm you know that would be interesting. I’d like to try some of it. Pete’s always telling me about this laughs taffy stuff…”

“Oh, taffy is good,” Carlos said. “Laffy Taffy has a lot of
sugar in it, but it’s really sweet and fruity. Yeah… there’s a lot of stuff to
try. Especially my dad’s cooking… but I think I’ll save that just for you,
Kraglin, and Pete.”

Smiles and nuzzles at him. “I’m glad I met you carlos………. I do t think…. anyone has made me as happy as you have…”

Carlos thought that that just wasn’t fair. Yondu had a heart
and should have had someone in his life he could trust and love long before
meeting Carlos.

“I’m glad I met you too,” Carlos told him. He held Yondu for
a moment longer. He glanced over at the table – his cider was probably cooled
off by now. Carlos pulled away to reach out and get it and then snuggled back
up against Yondu’s side.

“What are we going to do about Halfnut in the mean time?
Before we get to Earth?”

“Same as we have been. And hope he pulls through. Kid don’t deserve to keep suffering. And tullks so worried about his you d littke mate…but hey we still have those healing springs. We’re round up on that planet. And you’ll have more pictures to add to your book.

“We’re going to another planet with healing springs?” Carlos
asked. “That’ll be good for them. Do you think it’ll help Half-nut?”

“I hope so. These springs have been known for healing properties…… rumors of those laying in the springs and the waters healing cuts.. bruises…. a some even broken bones. Not sure on how true but natural springs are very good regardless…… “

“We… should probably run scans on them before sending anyone
down though,” Carlos said, suddenly remembering a scenario from a movie he’d
seen – one that wasn’t entirely implausible. “Just to make sure the volcanic activity
beneath the planet isn’t at any dangerous level before we put people in the
water.”

Puts
a arm over his shoulder pulling him close and sighs relaxing and
leaning back. “This is…. well nice. It’s good…. “ smiles closing his
eyes.

“That’s good,” Carlos said with a slight smile. His cup
still felt too hot to drink so he just held it, closing his eyes for a bit with
his head resting against Yondu’s shoulder.

Nuzzles against his head and lays his ontop Of Carlos’s. “To coolnit to drink level just put your finger onto of the handle…..”

“Hm?” Carlos asked. “Oh, no, it’s okay,” he said. “I like waiting for it to cool… it feels good in my hands, and the delayed gratification is nice sometimes.”

“Hmmm… your strange…. hehe. I like strange. You do things so differently from everyone else…”

“Well, I grew up differently,” Carlos said. “Even though Peter’s a human too, I was raised on Earth so I did things a little different. And we didn’t have ‘perfect temperature’ cups.” He smiled slightly and nuzzled Yondu’s chin.

Smiles his ears wiggling happily and snuggles him. “We’ll be rounding on terra in 3 days…”

Carlos froze. Already? He thought they had at least a couple
more weeks. Granted he couldn’t judge distance in space really well, but… he
just thought it’d be longer than that. He… wasn’t sure how to feel about it… or what to say about it.

“……. you know how you said you wanted a little physical book of pictures to show yer family?….. well ummm …. it doesn’t have today’s pictures yet but…” leans over on the table and hands him a Leather book inside dozens of photos from all the places they had visited.

Carlos blinked, surprised. He leaned forward to put his cup
down on the side table and took the book. He opened it and gasped softly. “When
did you have the time to do this?” he asked.

“Anytime I got. Sometimes when I should be sleeping or couldn’t sleep….I wanted to get it done before we reached earth….”

“I… I don’t know what to say, Yondu,” Carlos said softly. “You
– you really didn’t have to. This is just… amazing.”
