“No. Just means I have to impress your family too…” Smiles.

Carlos looked at him. “Oh – oh yeah?” he asked. He offered
him a slight smile. “Well…. We all already like the color blue.” Carlos laughed
awkwardly. “Sorry – that was really terrible and probably tasteless.”

Laughs a bit and smiles at him. “No. Cute… glad you like blue. I’m blue everywhere.. hehe.”

Carlos laughed softly. So they weren’t going to talk about
how this thing wouldn’t work out in the end. But that was okay… they were both
adults. They both were aware that Carlos would probably be going back home. But
at least they could have a bit of fun getting to know each other.

“I’m not kidding,” he went on. “It’s, like, all of ours’
favorite color. My dad wore a blue suit for a while, and when I was a kid I had
a blue hoodie that I wore almost all the time.”

“That crazy huh. Hehe…well when we get you back home I bet that’s the first thing your going to throw on.”

Carlos chuckled again. “Even if I did have it, it wouldn’t
fit me,” Carlos said. “I’ve since traded it for a labcoat… I’ve, uh… actually
got one with me. I was abducted while wearing it.”

“Lab coat huh?” Thinks and grins pervishly But says nothing.

Carlos looked at him a little oddly but nodded. “Yeah,” he
said. “I’d… actually just lost my job that day.” Carlos’ shoulder’s slumped as
he remembered. He found out just how crazy their boss was, and the company was
dissolved after his arrest. It was the worst thing that had ever happened to
Carlos…. Y’know, aside from getting abducted.

“Hmmmm…. Sorry….. I know the credits won’t be… Uhh… useful on earth but… i can make you official crew and… pay you. I technically owe you a lot as is…”

Carlos blinked at him. “Uh, I… really?” he asked. “I’m not…
I’m not really… Ravager material like the rest of you.”

“Bunch
of ass holes…. they probrobly did that because your planet isn’t space
travel…..but yeah… why not show you. And if you stay then… I can show
you more… the whole galaxy..”

Carlos started to get a little flushed at the idea. Just
going around, seeing all the different planets, dwarf-planets, and star
systems. Maybe he’d even get to see Knowhere – from what he’d understood it was
the largest space station ever made. He thought. He wasn’t sure.

“That sounds… really fun,” he said. “I mean, I actually would like to see as much of it as I can.” He smiled at Yondu.

Yondu Smiles and nods. “Then all of my planet sides I’ll take you with. So you can see the sites.”

Unless things don’t
work out and Yondu gets bored of you,
a thought said in Carlos’ head. And…
yeah, that was a possibility. A surprisingly devastating one, if he were
honest.

But Carlos just continued to smile, ducking his head
sheepishly. “Yeah, I’d… I’d like that,” he said softly.

“Then we’ll do that. On the safe planets…. on ones not safe… I’ll ummm… I’ll record and take pictures… with my head set!”

Carlos looked at him, grinning. “I’ve got a camera on my
phone too,” he said. “Heh… I wonder if my dad would scrapbook it all.”
Probably.

That was, if his dad was ever going to see any pictures.

Carlos’ smile started to waver and he looked down at his food. He tried to cover up his developing frown by scraping up the last of his food and shoving the last couple of forkfuls in his mouth.

“You have family huh….. I’ll get ya home as fast as I can Ok…”

“Not dangerously fast,” Carlos said quickly. “I mean… I just
mean, don’t do anything that’s… You shouldn’t take shortcuts if it’s safer.”

God, what was he saying?

Carlos scraped at the last little bit of leaf and sauce on
his plate, busying himself with trying to get it on the fork though he knew it
was useless.

“Of course we’ll be safe…. I just…. you miss your family..”

Carlos sighed, slumping his shoulders. “Yeah, I… I do,” he
said. “My dad and my brother… they’re wonderful people and I miss them. I… I’m
sorry… that probably puts a damper on this whole ‘dating’ thing, huh?”
